Hi - I have a similar diagnosis and am due to go in for a bowel resection and hysterectomy in 2 weeks. I’ve been told 3-4 months recovery for the first surgery, I’ll have a temporary stoma and all going well the bowel can be reattached 3-6 months after the first op.

Hi in june last year i had excision surgery of endo with a bowel resection. I didn't need a stoma bag but they talked through the possibility of needing one temporarily. I wont lie it was a rough experience personally as it is a major operation and theres a lot to it. I was i in the hospital for 5 days and had 6 weeks off work. I had a tube to relieve gas from my bowels and a drain in my stomach for the first few days which made going to the toilet awkward and moving around uncomfortable. I was on a semi soft doet for about 2 weeks and laxatives for a few weeks too. My bowel patterns havent returned to normal and differ everyday. Endo pain returned 2 months after surgery unfortunately but everyone is different 😊

I have adenmyosis and endometriosis which has gone to my bowel. Waiting to see consultant. Which is taking forever. For the past week I've had new bad pain in my left lower back and not had normal bowel movements. Yesterday and today I had a slight temp. Not sure what to do. Would you mind telling me your symptoms please. I'm really scared. X

Bless you if you're really concerned I would seek medical advice. My symptoms are constant dull ache in my lower back and bum, feels like a pressure in my bum thats how I describe it. When I have a flare up it has me on my hands and knees and comes in waves of pain. I cant stand up for long and trying to do simple tasks is a real struggle, I use an electric blanket to ease the pain and literally sit on it until I feel well enough to move. Pain passing bowel movements too and during a bad flare up pain passing urine. I've recently started Prostap injections and havent had a flare up since so I'm hoping they continue to work well for me. Again if you're worried about your pain please advocate for yourself and push for the help, I know its frustrating and hard work but dont suffer in silence x

Thank you for replying. Are they not doing surgery for you? X

Because I only had surgery 7 months ago they dont want to go in again that quickly so my only option was Prostap for 6 months x

Aww OK lovely. What op did you have if you don't mind me asking. They are wanting to do a hysterectomy for my adenmyosis but not sure what they are doing for my bowel. X

I had laparoscopic excision of endometriosis and a bowel resection. I also had to have a C section, I think this was because my bowel endo was worse than they saw on my MRI so it was very challenging for them. So I didnt have anything removed like you would with a hysterectomy other than part of my bowel x

My endo and adenmyosis pain is still very severe though it’s made no difference to that and I knew straight away x
