it is scary, but all happens so quick, one minute you will be talking to the docs and nurses, then youll wake up in the recovery room,

bear in mind, I was shaking quite a lot, and didn't know it was normal, not for everyone, but I think lots of us do, its like being really cold, and cant stop shaking for a while,

remember to take a pillow for the journey home, a bit of support under seat belt, and get some peppermint tea, helps with the air that they put in your body,

and keep in mind why your having it done, will they be excising endo also if found?

good luck and stay calm,xxxx

Hello, tboag is right, you'll sleep and you'll wake up and unbelievably it's all done! If you want a rough time guide for relatives/friends waiting just ask when you're going through your details in the morning. You'll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions. I was told 2-3 hours for sigmoidoscapy, lap, cysts drainage (not full removal) and endoscopy. That said, I left the ward at around 1.20 pm and wasn't back until 5. Just try to to worry, better they take there time and do it right and look after you.

There were lots of notices in my hospital to stay as warm as you can before surgery so bare this in mind when you're packing a bag. My temperature was also low after surgery although I felt warm.

Good luck, try not to worry too much x

Good luck. Had my op on Monday and slowly getting myself better.

The nurses and doctors are all lovely, just remember to ask them anything if you are unsure.

I had two cysts removed and loads of endo cleared, I was put to sleep about 11:00ish and was back on ward at 3pm.

Don't worry about a thing, you will have pain but the nurses and doctors will help make you as comfortable as can be. The worst pain is the gas, but nothing helps with that, I have been told it will go in own time, so just make sure and walk and move as best you can.

Make sure and have loose clothing to travel home in and a pillow to protect your belly.

Best wishes xx

I had my first lap for Endo excision on Tues and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was super nervous and teary about it all but the team were amazing and I felt really looked after. My op only took an hour and as others have said I was shaky when I can round so asked for more blankets. The gas pain in my shoulder was much worse than my tummy! I'm having to take it v steady at home as I can't walk easily or lift anything heavy but I'm getting there.

Try to relax - they know what they are doing.

Big hugs xxx
