Hey lovely - Understand you are scared but please don't, it is just routine to keep you in overnight, especially with you having surgery - Means they can monitor your pain and help you with that - You will definitely be home the following day to recover in your own house with the support and love you need - Good luck and speedy recover when it comes...... Think positive and you'll be just fine xx

Depends what you are having done (and what they anticipate they will find), whether you have other medical problems (that impacts anaesthesia/recovery) and so on... Perhaps in some places they keep a bed for each person having day surgery in case there are complications, but if you are okay you can go?

Don't worry! Better to be kept in and observed/helped and sent hone when you are ready than to be discharged when you are in a state. I stayed in overnight because I have other medical problems (that affect my recovery) and because I had endometriosis removed by my bladder I was unable to urinate until very late a night. I just slept a lot, rested and tried to eat a little something. I was too exhausted and out of it to really be bored or wish I was at home... I was weirdly grateful to be there as it was actually easier for me than trying to climb stairs to get to my bedroom.

Hi, I've got my first procedure 3 days after, Bilateral Laparoscopic Ovarian/Adnexal Cystectomy. The Registrar I saw explained and said IF when they go in with the camera and it's not too sticky, they plan to remove the tops off each of the (chocolate) cysts that encase the ovaries and Fallopian tubes in the hope it improves fertility, but it's likely they won't do anything because I'm at least stage 2. I'm on the afternoon surgery list, I don't have to get to the hospital until 12.30 and they said home the same day. Try not to worry you'll probably be the same day, especially since your a morning surgery ;) I'm jealous lol I asked for 8am!

*Also, I'm a wimp, we need to be strong for each other :) xx

Hiya! I had a lap on Tue. My first ever op & I was terrified! I can't say I enjoyed the experience, but it wasn't as bad as I imagined. I went in at 4pm on Tue & stayed overnight & came home at 10.30 Wed Morn. A lap is considered day surgery but it just depends on the time that its scheduled for. You will appreciate staying in overnight as it will give you the chance to rest & the nurses will take good care of you. Try not to worry & hope all goes well x
