I was on this a few years ago. It is an anti depressant which is also used for nerve pain. It is quite commonly used to treat back or leg pain as it fogs the pain part of your brain. For me it fogged my whole brain and I felt awful on it so only took it a few days.
I'm currently on gabapentin every day and it works well for me. But again it's only fogging up the part of my brain that makes you feel pain. Which I am only willing to be on short term.
I hope it helps you.
I was on amitriptyline for a while. I found them very good but you need to give them a week or so to get used to them so that the fogginess gets better. I found taking them around 6pm meant I felt fine the next day and I had a lovely sleep by about 10pm. I would certainly take them again if offered.
