Successful pregnancies?

Hi I was diagnosed with stage 2 endo In May 2014 and it was then removed in April 2015. My surgeon was very happy with how the op went and said that my anatomy is fine and I should not have a problem getting pregnant. I fell pregnant naturally the month after my surgery, unfortunately I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks. Has this or anything similar happened to anyone else who have then gone on to have healthy pregnancies? Am I at more of a risk of miscarriage now with endo? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

There was a study study completed recently showing endo ladies to be 76% more likely to have a miscarriage.

So sorry for your loss it's so devastating, I spoke to my consultant about that article and he said not to take it for gospel truth as not enough work has been done on it. So hopefully he is right.

Hi both of you. I'm so sorry for your loss. Everyone is different, and the best advice will obviously come from your Dr, but I had 2 miscarriages and also 2 successful pregnancies. Good luck with any future pregnancies.

Aw that's great about your successful pregnancies! Are miscarriages more common with endometriosis or just one of those things that could happen to anyone?

Hello all of you, I'm 33 so when I was diagnosed at 31 with stage 4, I was told 'not to put off' trying for a family if I wanted one. After surgery I went on provera for 6 months to supress endo for slightly longer before ttc. We conceived within 3 months but had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks so I understand how devastating this can be and I am sorry for your losses-I hope you are getting the support you need and make sure you rest up!

Although there appears to be some new research into miscarriages in people with endo, I am not convinced we are more at risk. Out of 5 of my friends (all of whom don't have endometriosis, 4 out of 5 have had a miscarriage (one was ectopic) so unfortunately, it doesn't help but it is so so common especially with first preganancies. Your body rejected the foetus for a reason and there's nothing we can do to prevent it happening. The main issue for endo sufferers is usually conceiving in the first place.

On a more positive note and to add a little reassurance and hope, we conceived again 3 months after the miscarriage and I am now 15 weeks pregnant-we had a very emotional scan a few weeks back and baby is a little wriggler so, so far so good although I am still incredibly anxious.

That is fantastic news! I am hoping it was just one of those things, I ovulated two weeks after my miscarriage and we started ttc again. The only problem is I'm not quite sure when my period is due. Did you count your miscarriage as a period? My doctor hasn't been very helpful so I'm sorry for all of the questions.

No problem-ask as many as you like! I was told at the hospital that I should get a period 4 weeks after I miscarried-although I bled for 2 or so weeks, I still had my period around 4 weeks or so after the miscarriage started. I was told not to have intercourse before my period to prevent any infection and was also told to do another pregnancy test 2 weeks after the miscarriage to ensure it was negative but this may have been due to the nature of it.

We started trying again as soon as my next period was over so really it only took us 2 months! Some women are told to wait 3 months before trying again but I think opinions differ.

I saw one of the countries leading specialists on recurring miscarriage and she said endo will cause difficulties in getting pregnant, but once pregnant you have no greater risk of miscarriage than anybody else.

This is very similar to my situation. I am 26 and was diagnosed with endo in november 2014. I have had two miscarriages at 5 weeks. I saw my consultant last week and he isnt concerned at all! He also said that it has nothing to do with endo. I have very regualr cycle and had a period 28 days after both.I am still waiting to see pain clinic so as well as having the miscarriages I am really strugelling with the pain! I hope this helps, it has certainly helped me to know im not alone!! X

Many women with endo have no problem having babies and you have mild so I wouldn’t worry.check your luteal phase, you might need progesterone to keep hold of pregnancy as a lot of women with endo do. Xx
