Hi Tasnim,

Following a laparoscopy, I was prescribed provera for 6 months. It did successfully stop my periods for this duration and my usual side effects thankfully subsided. I did experience a few unwanted side effects from the provera so it will certainly be worth talking to friends, family and work colleagues and explaining you are on them. I told mine that I may be even more unpredictable and 'ratty!' I was incredibly irritable and would bite people's heads off more than usual! I also experienced a sense of being permanently cold and shivering as well as feeling itchy. It sounds awful but preferable to the pain etc I was previously suffering.

When I came off provera, it wasn't explained to me that I would have a long on again off again period! I started about 2 weeks later but bled on and off for about 6 weeks and my boobs were more tender than normal-apparently this was all normal. My cycle did settle down after the 2nd period but unfortunately many of my endo symptoms returned as I chose to try to conceive following provera. I was successful after 3 periods but lost the baby at 12 weeks...3 more periods later, we have conceived again and I am now 13 weeks having had my first very emotional scan last week!

I hope this helps and answers any questions but do talk to those close to you and discuss how you are feeling. Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have and remember everyone reacts differently to drugs so you may experience no side effects at all! Good luck x

I was told to just start it as I am prescribed it for constant use with no break but I would go with whatever you have been told by your Dr with when to start it. Hope you get on ok with it 😊 xxx

Hi! I used this last year for 4 months (was told any longer was too big an amount for my body?) I took it alongside Cerazette (for contraception) and oh my god I felt amazing!!! I did get lots of headaches but have since discovered that was due to Cerazette. I felt so energetic, pain was minimal, i bled for literally about an hour one day of each month and that was it! My skin, hair and nails were healthy and strong. It didn't help the painful intercourse or bowel/bladder issues too much but day-to-day i felt soooo much better x
