Hi. I am really new to this and as yet undiagnosed but your post stood out to me. I'm currently waiting for a pelvic ultrasound scan following a clear pelvic xray around 2 weeks ago. The reason your post has stood out at me is because of your 'tailbone pain'. I have a constant dull ache around my tail bone area, although my tail bone itself isn't actually painful to touch etc. The pain is right underneath and I get general soreness and tenderness around my ischium (sitting bones). I also have some sciatic symptoms and pain in my legs. At one point the pain would ease at certain times of my cycle but now it is there constantly. My Dr suspects endometriosis. I am so worried at the moment driving myself mad with this constant pain in my lower rear pelvic area. i also have a bad chest at the moment which has been lingering for a couple of weeks. My pain has been present for around 6 months, I would be releived to get a diagnosis of endometriosis as I'm driving myself crazy that it is something more serious. I would be so interested to speak to other women to find out their experiences# if you could help me. Thanks.

Hi sorry to hear you are also suffering. I too suffer lots of pain on my tail bone. Used to be associated with my monthly cycle. I can only sit on my side or if I have too sit normally I sit on one bum cheek at a time. I find water bottles help or a rubber ring gives releif. I have being doing a little research and have read that pelvic ultrasound are very good at picking up endo. So cross fingers ☺. It does help sharing experiences and pain relief. I have been put on zoladex with a future plan of having a hysterectomy. I've not been offered a laprascopy and no wondering if I should push for one ?. The pain is feels like a big ball that radiates pain. Plus my tail bone is sore to touch, is yours? . Sorry for the essay 😁,

Thank you for your reply. No my tail bone is not particularly sore to touch. I completely agree that I feel like I have a large pressure point near my tail bone that as you say radiates pain, sometimes it feels like it is burning! It is a constant source of pressure. I must admit as you say I do get some relief on a morning when obviously I have been resting during the night and my pain is relatively reduced for a couple of hours after I get up but then it starts again. I have been looking at some of the messages on here and it seems to be a bit of a theme that pain seems to be worse in the afternoon. Fingers crossed I will go for my ultrasound and get a diagnosis. Xx

Katy - your post doesn't cover a huge amount of background but a gynae should not be talking about a hysterectomy without Even a laparoscopy, and a diagnosis and I am afraid a hysterectomy will not get rid of your pains as the Endo if you have it will still be wherever it is and will carry on responding as it does now to inflammatory responses and whateve normally causes the Endo to flare up. please try and find another consultant as this one probably doesn't know enough about Endo. Have you been diagnosed yet ? An ultrasound will pick up things like endometrioma cysts and nodules such as I have on my bowel which is what is causing my tailbone pain I believe. Also Endo in pouch of Douglas may be the cause of it - but yes it sounds like endo. There are Endo specialist centres - you need to be referred to for proper diagnosis and treatment. Look up on the BSGE website. Also re zoladex - it's a very hard core drug with lasting side effects - I really hope you weren't given this without even a diagnosis yet? It puts you in temporary menopause so no periods and not pain in theory - but will NOT treat or shrink the Endo, so why is it being given so you know? Best of luck it's a mine field out there - but keep researching and keep asking questions.

Hi

Thanks for your response. I little more background (s isn't want to bore anyone lol). Been suffering for years with pain full and heavy periods. Eventually got a doc to refer me where I was put on the coil and given a hystercopy, which found polyps that where removed. (I am 41 have 3 kids) I have always said I wanted a hysterectomy and knew nothing different. Went back to consultant 6 months later with lighter periods but my pain in my tail bone and ovaries had got worse. So she suspects endo and put me on zoladex with the understanding that if I loose weight I can have a hysterectomy. Ovary pain gone but yet again pain in tailbone as escalated to a new level. Knowing what I know now due to some great advice from this page I am off to the docs this week to demand a mri or laproscopy. My nearest endo clinic is Birmingham which is 2 hours away so I will have to see see how I get on. Thank you for responding xx

I have just had my sixth zoladex injection .. Still in pain and still bleeding!

Also I found actually having the injection worsened in pain the more I had.

My sixth one made me scream in pain.

Can't wait to go to my gynae next week and see what he has to say now .. Probably get brushed off like most of us women as they have no idea what the next step is

Omg yes me too (not the injection bit though ). I'm due my 3rd injection next month and this month my pain has got so much worse. I'm not bleeding though which helps but totally agree. I have posted this question before and someone said it's because the injection loosens the muscles around the uterus which = more pain ??. Not sure if this is the case but you have my sympathy
