I had a zoladex injection a week ago today. I've felt fine until last night. I kept waking up with pelvic and lower back pain. As the morning is going on I feel like I've been run over. My knees really hurt going up the stairs, my neck and lower back just hurt so much. I'd think it was the flu with the deep aching pain but I'm not poorly. I've read about joint pain as a side affect of zoladex. Could it be that kicking in after a week. I didn't think it would really take effect until the second injection. If anyone else suffered with the joint pain did anything work to take the pain away and did it settle?
Yes it could be. It takes about a week to kick in. I had 2 courses , didn't get on with it, stopped a month ago and am still having troubles with my knees.
If you haven't been prescribed hrt then ask for some and it's also best practice to get a baseline bone density scan done as it's known to affect bone density over time.
Thank you for your reply. I'll try and get an appointment with my gp tomorrow and ask about HRT and a bone scan. My consultant hadn't mentioned either of those. I can't believe how it's hit me today. I hope your knee pain improves. I'm supposed to be having these injections for 3 months but I'll see how It goes. X
My wrists and ankles were weak, constant nausea, very tired and weight gain had 6 injections worked for a while but symptoms are back.
Yes I'm on my 3rd injection and my 4th one is July 12th I get severe headaches for the first week but tablets I've been given help with that and I've also noticed that when i would normally be due a monthly I still seem to be uncomfortable it's a dull ache but bareable also I get the achy bones more so if I've spent a lot of time on my feet on hard surfaces in my shins and in my lower back a bit like the start of spd. you've got to remember it's a powerful drug as it's also used to treat men with prostate cancer my grandad has just started the injections for his recent prostate cancer diagnosis and he's experiencing similar symptoms to myself also.

Thanks for your replies. Its helpful to know what to expect. I didn't read much before I had the injecction so I didn't get all worked up and not have it. I've been so desperate to get some relief from my pain. I hope your Grandad will be ok Emma. X

Hi unfortunately my grandads cancer is untreatable the injections will help and as he's already got some in his bones it is terminal so we just have to make the most of the time we have got left with him his consultant has said two years but doesn't want to commit to longer. I've just started the gym now my pain is under control swimming one day the gym the next to build my core up and to loose some weight after having been in a never ending cycle of trying to exercise to loose weight then being in agony but having the extra weight doesn't help endo or the pelvic congestion syndrome so while I'm pain free if I can do that and build it up for when my injections finish as I'm not sure how things are going to be when the injections finish so anything I can do before they finish to help the better. Hope your feeling better now xx
