Is the depo injection the same as the mini pill cerazette?

Confused about the bone density issues please help as my doctor conpletley fobs me of!

Depo provera injection gives you a much larger progesterone dose-usually 3 monthly and is implicated in loss of bone density.I am now being taken off it as have been diagnosed with osteoporosis.The progesterone only pill gives a much smaller dose so is safer,as is the mirena coil.Hope that helps.

Hi. I was on on depo for about 18 months after I had my daughter and it was great s it stopped my periods completely. The downside for me was that it made me incredibly depressed in the 4 weeks before my next injection was due and it completely ruined my sex drive. I really couldn't have cared less if I'd never had sex again. Then I discovered that depo is the same as one of the drugs that they give to sex offenders to dampen their sex drives but just under a different name and license. I would avoid like the plague if I were you. They also never mentioned to me about the bone density issues so I didn't know to take supplements. I didn't find out until afterwards. If I were you I'd go for the pill instead. Good luck. X

Hi I was in the depo for 7 years I took my last shot September 2016 in April I could nnt get out of bed ..to cut long story short was off work 3 mth..and I have had pain in my neck for 7 mth ..every day I got xray and it said osteoarthritis, but blood said not it feels like I've got cervical spondylitis as I'm also getting tingle feelings in hand ..had test done for carpel tunel as well came back negative .I was wondering maybe this is with coming off the depo but I'm getting no answers at all from doctors the reason they took me off the depo shot was because I'm in pri menapourse,but I must say every day since April I've had pain in my neck and I was even thinking to go on the mini pill to see if that eases the pain ..I really do not know what to do for the best .

That's awful and no they don't tell you that do they I'm currently on cerazette mini pill so I think I will stick with that then! Do you think I need to take any supplement with this pill re the bone density issues? Thank you for reply x
