Hi everyone. My name is Laura and i'm from Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. I was diagnosed with endo stage IV one year ago, i've had laparoscopy and hormonal treatments, and after i used Vissane for 7 months, i stopped because it caused me hair loss and stomach problems among others. March 27 i decided to go with depo provera treatment, but now i'm bleeding a little since sunday 26. My doctor said is pretty standard, but i would like to hear some advice of someone who's been under the same treatment. Besides that, i just wanted to say this is a great community, we're all in this together and i'm happy to be part of it. Have a great rest of day. :)

I was on the depo all of last year (13 months total). It didn't work as planned for me.

Here were my issues: I bled every day for 12 months, I was told this was very uncommon. I had deep cystic acne all over my t-zone for about 8 months. I am not sure about hair loss, because I shed like a cat anyways. Every time I got the shot, the following week I would have a severe headache and at some point in that week I had a pretty severe panic attack. For about 2 weeks after each shot I had loosening of my joints in my knees and lower back. I didn't gain weight until about 5 months in, then I gained about 30 pounds. I did have constant nausea. Oh, and never get the shot in your arm, it hurts sooooo badly. And I got itchies at all of the injection sites for a few weeks. I am saddened that I went through all these effects and it never helped my pain. But, it has helped many other women, so go for it. :) Now I do have a plus side to the shot, it helped my severe pms. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take calcium supplements of some kind during the whole time you are on the shot!!! Some doctors never mention the black box warning, and you want your bones to last you when you are a cute little old lady.

Now, when coming off the shot just remember that if you wish to try and get pregnant, it can take up to a year. They say your period can come back immediately the next month, or it can take months. I could feel my shot wearing off when it was time for my next shot March 18th 2015. By the start for April, my legs and back started tightening back up. No more air bubble pain in my lower back or my legs trying to pop out of joint. I started getting the pre-period hot flashes and discharge but by the time it was for me to maybe have my period, I had a hysterectomy (April 15th 2015). So as of this moment I am not sure when my "period" symptoms will be. Ugh, and welcome back the crabby pms symptoms. ;)

Oh, and I forgot to add I had some eye issues that cleared up when going off. Just weird vision unevenness between both eyes, nothing major but still noticeable.
