Heat Pads...Any Good ?

Anyone tried heat pads instead of hot water bottle? Thing is I like the heat of a water bottle, does a heat pad get anywhere close to the same heat? My hot water bottle always has a cover on it but still has a good heat for pain relief.......any advice?x

I find the cheaper ones that go on your knickers better than the ones that go on skin, and if it's your pelvic area they can get lower down,

I still prefer wheat bag, microwave ones, but pads can go unnoticed if out and about,

Get them from pound shops not chemists,

Hi.

My partner brought me one a few weeks ago, I couldn't get comfy with a hot water bottle behind my back in bed.

It has 5 heat settings and a auto shut off after 3 hours. It's much better because you don't need to keep getting up and refill the bottle.

I would definately recommend it, I couldn't be without it now. The one I got was the dreamland Intelligent pad it was £30 but it great I love it xx

Ive just looked at this as i usually have to wake up at 3/4am to boil the kettle for my hot water bottle when the pain is bad - Am i right in thinking in just plugs in? and is the power cable quite long?

Hi. Yes it plugs in to the a wall socket. Yes had a long cord about 2 meters I would estimate xx

Yes I would they are great. I have ordered my self another one so when stays on my area on the sofa and one in my bed! Xx

I would definately recommend that one its gets warmer than a hot water bottle and it made of really soft fabric and can be washed in the washing machine. I love mine as you can probably tell lol x

I tried heat pads once but found it came no way near my hot water bottle personally.

I went for the ones that go on the outside of knickers. I found they were tepid and done nothing for my pain

I have recently got the same heat pad as Mummy1982, which. I had read about on another post on here. It's great!! When I'm using downstairs during the day I tend to have it on the higher settings and it's just as hot as my hot water bottle, but just never goes cold.

I also use it at night time under my lower back and pelvis and hips. I get a lot of pain at night. My pain the last week has really gone up a few levels at night and I've been awake from about 3.30am each day. But the heat pad has made the pain more bearable. I only tend to put it on the first setting at night as I get hot in bed and thin nightware on makes the pad seem hot. Lasts for 3 hours and helps be get comfy and go to sleep. I then put it back on when I wake up and then I put it on a higher setting to help ease the horrendous pain. I'm due to take my last pill tonight and didn't have a break last month due to being in holiday, so sure my extra pain is due to time of the month.

Worth every penny and even the lady in argos where I got it from, said she had one for her shoulder pain and it was fab. Shall be using this constantly when I have my lap in a few weeks.

I've been using mine for years. I don't have to worry if I fall asleep with it as it has auto shut off built in the control. It's not so heavy on your tummy. It helps with the pain.

Thanks to all for the advice, I've been to argos and bought one!!! Sitting with it on my back as we speak....strange cos it doesn't feel that hot to the touch but when its against your body its a lovely even heat......love it....thanks again for the sound advice.....Happy days..

Cant wait take it bed.....no more waking up to boil a kettle for the bottle xx
