Superficial endometriosis.

Hey endo sisters :)

I was diagnosed via laparoscopic surgery with endometriosis in June 2014. When I saw the specialist in September following my surgery, I was told that my endometriosis was superficial, so they didn't remove it, and that it won't grow. And I was also told I won't need to see them again because it's superficial.

Although recently, starting a couple months ago, my periods started getting heavier than they were, my periods are always late despite the birth control pill, and, my endometriosis related pain is much in worse.

I was wondering if superficial endometriosis can grow? And if it has sounded like it has grown?

Thanks in advance,

S, 19!

Hi hun.

Sorry to hear about your pain.

Any type of endometriosis can grow it is fed by the oestrogen in the body.

I would say that the fact that you are still having painful heavy periods whilst on the contraceptive pill is a indicator that the endo is returning.

I had the same thing I didn't no I had endo at that point,I was waiting for a appointment with the consultant and my Dr told me to try the pill, I did 3 months and I had to stop because of the side effects and because my periods were getting heavier.

I would go to your Dr and ask for a referal to a endometriosis specialist, as this doesn't sound like a specialist who removed your previous endo, because endo definitely grows .

I hope this helps xx

I have never heard such a load of BS (oh no actually I have from uneducated consultants) the problem will be is whomever you saw isn't confident in what there doing!

I would go back to your gp and ask for a referral to a BSGE endo accredited centre to find your nearest look on the BSGE website there is a list of centres and consultants details so you can also check them out. X

Good luck sharon
