Getting a diagnosis.

Let's start from the beginning, 7 years ago I got sent for an ultrasound as I was having painful periods and at the age of 14 I got told I had polycystic ovaries. I never thought anything of it until 2 years ago when me and my husband decided to try for a baby. We are both young and healthy, yet after 10 months of trying nothing had happened so I went to the Dr's and the only support I got was to lose weight. Eventually we managed to fall pregnant naturally. 3 months after having my baby I was having a lot of abdominal pain and as I had a chance section is was sent for a scan, everything was fine just a few cysts. Then 2 months after that I started bleeding heavy dark clots, I thought it would pass so I left it another 2 months before I got referred for another scan, blood tests and a smear. All has come back normal, just slightly high testosterone levels. That was 2 months ago now and since then I've stopped bleeding (for how long I don't know!?) but I am now in a lot of pain. Doing anything like passing wind, urine and opening my bowels hurts in my pelvis/ lower abdomen to the point I have cried. I have told my Dr's all of this but because every test they have done so far has come back fine they just tell me to manage the pain rather than finding out the reason. They have also totally ruled out endometriosis as they couldn't see it on my scans and cuz I've had a baby and conceived naturally but I can't help but wonder!?

My friend has severe endo with endometriomas and she's pregnant now. Docs can't rule it out just because you had a baby.

I got told that my symptoms weren't "cyclical enough to be endo" and "most people don't describe a burning pain with endo". Guess what, lap result yesterday shows endo. As my second consultant said to me, " the lap is the gold standard for diagnosing endo." So no one can rule out endo unless you've had a lap. Even then sometimes they miss it or miss adenomyosis.

You know your body. You know if something is wrong. I know it can be disheartening and frustrating when it seems no one is listening to you. Take your hubby with you to appointments, write things down before you go and don't take know for an answer.
