Hi
I was prescribed Cerazette as my first contraception roughly 6 years ago, and it didnt agree with me back then. I couldn't remember any side effects, but quickly changed pills. I then had my lap in June and was diagnosed with endo, and was on Micronor - which didnt help. The doctor then thought i should give Cerazette a go again.... Worst few months ever (hormone wise). I was constantly angry, tired, sad, happy... mood swings were major. The one thing i did notice though was anxiety! Ive always been a worrier, but my anxiety levels went through the roof.... driving anywhere unknown would have me in tears... i would sit and study maps online, and plan for every type of possibility. I'd worry my car would break down and i'd be stuck (even though i have breakdown cover). When i had these attacks i physically couldn't breathe and it was a really stressful time for me and my partner (we were in the process of buying our first house and me starting new uni courses). i came off it after 3 months and i haven't taken any type of contraception (other than condom) for a month, just to give my body a break.
Lots of people have good stories though, so please don't be put off just because of my review of it... but i would say listen to your body. I know they say it takes a while for your hormones to settle down, but its not worth the mental impacts it can have.
I imagine your on cerazette because you cant take the normal pill... the same as me ... so if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Emma Xx
Oh wow Emma, that sounds awful! x
Don't worry about putting me off, I understand that everyone reacts differently - I was just interested to see how everyone else had got on with it
It's not that I can't take the normal pill - in fact I was symptom free a few years ago before I came off it! My gynae requested that I go on this drug as apparently it is more effective for severe endo. Also, my partner and I have been TTC for quite a while but he is getting checked out for fertility issues his end at the moment, so we need to press 'pause' on my endo building back up in the meantime. I have got my fingers crossed that it won't be necessary for too long if we get good news
It had been great for my endo symptoms and plus side was i had no period. However did put on a little bit of weight which is hard to shift. But when you weigh it up i could live with that.x
Thanks Emma, I will do!
That was weird, I wrote a longer reply but it didn't go through!
I've been on cerazette for a year now I told myself is give it a year! It was horrendous in the beginning and so many times I wanted to come of it as I had a lot of break through bleeding and pain but I persevered and 6-7 months later the bleeding completley stopped so I have no periods at all now :0) I do still get some pains but their bare able an my quality of life is a lot better. My surgeon wanted to insert the coil during my lap but I wasn't keen on the coil wish I was brave enough to have it but I'm not lol so I went for the pill option. I think you really have to give it a good 6-12 months for I I work properly I'm glad I persivered with it. I havnt ha any anxiety / depression issues / it weigt gain issues. Good luck and it's worth a try and obviously everyone is different so what works for others won't necessarily work for you I hope it does though :0) x
I was put on cerazette from last dec and its been horrendous !!
Constant bleeding sometimes very heavy to the extreme of its pouring out of me. Weight gain, pain , angry then tearful .. They hav fitted a mirena coil so i can come off the pill and see how things pan out
Sorry its not more positive !
This pill makes me so aggressive! hahaha like a red mist descended
I remember saying to my dad, "i cant even look at you you are making me so angry i want to stab you!"
im not even an angry person usually but my fuse was ridiculous, went back to doctors they took me off it and the red mist left
I was on cerazette, worked well for me. I had no periods at all, still had the back pain though but manageable .
Cerazette caused depression and weight gain for me. Took it for 6/7 months and last few months I had a lot of spot bleeding and lower back pain so I came off it for 3 months. Then I knew I had to go back in something as I was in a lot of pain, and flooding again, with bad ovulation pain. Been on Qlaira now for about 7 weeks. We are all different though and our experience of Endo is our own, all be it in general for Most of us painful.
You can only try.
Big hugs

Hi all, just an update on the Cerazette experience!!
So, I started taking it in December and the 1st week or 2 was fine. Then on NY Eve, I started bleeding, and bleeding, and bleeding!! It slowed a little for a day or so but I did continue to bleed throughout January. I DEFINITELY noticed a change in my moods! I am usually a really relaxed, laid back person but oh-no, my OH got the brunt of it. Luckily, he managed to remain mostly understanding!! I would say the moods were for about 10-14 days.
Then finally at the end of Jan, the bleeding stopped - totally! I was almost completely endo-pain-free for almost 4 weeks. Unfortunately I have started again a couple of days ago but I just saw my endo specialist this morning and said to just double to dose to 2 per day and see how I get on x
Im on my third month of cerazette and haven't had my period since I've been prescribed it. Its my second pill that I've been on and it has stopped the bleeding all together. Im slightly worried if its healthy to not have you period for this length of time.
