Milkshake diet

Has anyone been on the milkshake/ liquid diet? I've just started it and wow I'm really struggling. I don't have chrones I have Endometriosis and Funcational Bowel Disorder and they believe this could help, and tips on how to cope?

I dont know any details about this diet but I think liquid diets are quite extreme for anyone. Getting lots of good whole food not processed is what I think helps me to manage my endo. For me it's better to work out by elimination which food make things worse, eg wheat, dairy etc and then work out a way to eat which means you get all the necessary nutrients and are not driven insane!

I've done a shake diet a couple of times and find it can help. I would use soy milk as opposed to dairy as that can be a bit heavy, also not great for endo. If you're struggling try adding lots of nuts/fruit throughout the day to help break it up. It can give you lots of nutrients as they're designed to give you your daily allowance. I struggle bad with junk food etc which makes my endo worse, so being on something like this helps to keep my diet "clean" which in turn helps manage my endo. Also, anything that keeps my weight down is a good thing as I'm less bloated and sore which just puts pressure on everything. Good luck xx

Hi KM

just a quick note to be a bit careful with soy as it is high in phytoestrogens (plantestrogens) which will fuel endometriosis growth. Other foods relatively high in phytoestrogens are peanuts, peanuts, beans, other legumes (such as peas, green beans etc). I drink oatmilk instead (and there's rice milk as well - both fortified with calcium). Hope this helps

Thank you. I'm picking my flavours then they want me to do it for 2-4 weeks I feel like I'm trying to lose weight and can't have bad food I feel so stupid. Xxx

I know but I can't drink any milk alternative other than soy unfortunately and due to the oestrogen in cows milk i was recommended soy by my gynecologist. Didn't know about the nuts though will take note of that, thank you xx

Only have organic milk. Otherwise the hormones given to the cows (which gets in the milk) could adversely affect your endo.

I drink both normal milk and lacto free I never knew that about normal milk x

Soy is a bad choice when you have endo as is dairy as both contain eastrogens/phytoestrogens which can make your endo worse! I would suggest coconut milk oat milk or almond milk as an alternative. I don't know why your gynae suggested soy! Perhaps they need to do their research! But as you do I also find my weight is a big contributor to my endo so best of luck!
