Eating? Excercise?: Hi ladies, im just... - Endometriosis UK
Eating? Excercise?
Hi I've had endometriosis for over 10 years now and have never been given a diet. I found certain foods left me bloated though like bread and learnt to cut them out. You just have to keep an eye on your own diet and find out what works for you. My doctor did however recommend yoga but I joined a boot camp and found all exercise helps . Hope this helps you in some way
Hi I recently got some intolerance testing and cut the things I was intolerant to wheat/soya/barley/buckwheat/red/white wine/gin/beer and 5 E numbers. It was very difficult at first you have to read every label as wheat/soya is hidden in everything. Cutting these foods dramatically reduced my bloating and pain so much so that I could start exercise again. I joined curves and although it's an effort most days to go I feel better afterwards. There have been a few times I have been in agony before but felt better afterwards. It really is a struggle but I joined with a buddy, it has helped enormously as I don't want to let her down and it forces me to go. Still get dog tired though.
Have a look at endo-resolved.com/diet.html for some info. The endo diet is very restrictive but keeping a diet diary should help you to identify the foods that are irritating your endo.
Hope this helps you

Thankyou very much ill start a diary to see what sets it off the most xx
Exercise wise, I had real problems with running - I'd get really bad cramps afterwards. You might be different to me but I think it was just too high impact. Swimming is a safe bet.
If running is uncomfortable then cycling on a low bicycle in the gym or cross trainer generally feels better, even if you are uncomfortable it is possible to do 30 minutes which is enough (for me) to feel some benefits. Swimming like jmax1 says is also good, especially after you have allowed yourself to heal after an op and the start exercising again. Best wishes.
I've found swimming and yoga helpful. I'm lucky that I only get bad pain now on the days I get my period. I'm exhausted a lot of the time tho. If I swim every day the week before my period I find when the pain hits it's not as bad. I quite often only swim for 20 min then relax in the steam room. Even that small amount has an effect for me. Yoga is good for stretching and gently exercising everywhere. It also helps to keep me calm when the pain hits. Diet wise - I've never done the full Endo diet but I limit wheat and cut out citrus fruit. I used to make fresh orange juice every day which made my skin glow amazingly but when I cut in out I went from every month being sick, horrific pain and blacking out to less intense (but still bad) pain and much less sickness. I haven't blacked out for a year. glowing skin or non-agonising pain wasn't a difficult decision to make I make sure I regularly eat oily fish which seems to help. Keeping a food diary is a good idea. Read up on the Endo diet then try cutting out certain foods and work out what works for you xx
