Had my 2nd gynae appointment today since March – it took me 7 years before I even got the first one so I feel super lucky to have 2 in 6 months (wahoo!).

I recently had an ultrasound and they said I have a few cysts on each ovary and that my right one is almost attached to my uterus, which explains the pain on my right side. Since the last appointment, I have been taking Cerazette and Provera oral together and it has definitely improved most of my symptoms minus the painful intercourse. So, I was worried what would come out of today’s appointment as I didn’t really know much more about other treatment options.

First the Dr discussed the coil, then went away to speak to the head consultant and half an hour later returned to tell me they were putting me in for my first laparoscopy … happy that I’m being taken seriously etc. and also TERRIFIED! I know nothing about it, what to expect, what they may find, what they may do?! The Dr explained the risks and complications but not much more. I obviously know it's keyhole and there will be some small incisions and stuff but not a lot.

I’m only 19 and before any treatment my worst symptoms were all bowel related – with both of these the Dr said the likelihood of me having to stay in longer than just the day is very high and I should expect to be in at least 24 hours after the procedure. Any info will be much appreciated!

Hi I had my laparoscopy a year ago. I was scared too but there was no way I was gunna say no after I had gotten them to listen to me FINALLY! (even though they still didn't believe me) I went in at 7 in the morning and was all gowned up and waiting to go in. When they were ready for me I walked down to the theatre and they inserted a cannula and the lady was very nice and put the anesthetic in. I was most worried about that bit but when it what happening it what great! :-) they went through my belly button as that's where they put the camera in to look around. They found 3 area's of endo, they made two incisions on my left side and removed them. Next thing I knew I was waking up. Not gunna lie I was in a lot of pain afterwards but I spose any surgery comes with pain. The feeling of being right all those years made the pain worth it though! You will have pain also in your shoulders and be bloated because they pump you up with gas so they can inflate your abdomen and get a better look. For that part have a lot of peppermint tea at home and mint imperial's they help the gas. Afterwards the best bit of advice is don't be too hard on yourself, rest up. I was too hard on myself and gave myself an infection 6 days later.

Rest, take it easy and after all these years take the sympathy!

Hope this helps :-)
