Tramadol - keeps me awake

So i've noticed that when taking tramadol, it makes it hard for me to sleep. Im wide awake most hours of the night then only get an hour or two in before i need to wake up for work. And now im drowsy. seems to have both effects. does anyone else have similar experiences?

I’m at work just now & I could honestly fall asleep right now, absolutely shattered/drained & if I shut my eyes I swear I’ll go

I find the same with Tramadol-perhaps you could use it for work and use something else for night time.I am on dihydrocodeine which makes me feel sleepy,so perhaps you could try that.Other thing is to try a sleep aid.I use Melatonin tablet or have in the past had prescribed sleeping pills,as even with pain relief the pain keeps me awake.There are also lots of herbal sleeping aids you cold try.

We are all different in how we react to drugs.My friend is knocked out and fast asleep for hours with Tramadol,but like you I feel it stops me sleeping.

Hope you find a good combination that allows you to get some sleep.

Im exactly the same with tramadol, last night I managed 2 hours sleep, its just awful. I have an appointment with my gp tomorrow to see if I can get anything else for night time. Hope you get something sorted I can completely sympathise

Hi what make tramadol are you on?

As I'm on zydol tramadol

And they make me tired all day and night, I can go to bad at night and have 10 hrs wake up in the morning and go back to sleep an hour later and have another 5-6hrs then wake for an hour or so and then sleep again,

But first time I was on them I only slept for 1-3 hrs and was full of life, doing my work quickly and good,

Doing my things around the house,

Spending quality time with my kids

But now these tramadol I'm on effects all that,

I need to try and find the makes of others that will give me that kick up the ass, that's why I ask what make your on,

I'm just thinking, are you on anything else along with the tramadol? ! of my docs prescribed the wrong pills to go along with it & i was being given a codeine overdose

Thanks all- very helpful. I actually cant take anything with codeine in as am alergic but am sure there's others that could help me in the evening. Another trip back to the GP i think!

Well i've recently gone onto anti-depressants but thats only recently, whereas the issue with tramadol has been long before i was on the ADs.

I have had same effects last night I feel as if 2 hours sleep is enough its same feeling as ampetimines so Google has described when ive just looked tramadols have never done this to me before think I may have taken too many yesterday
