I've heard about a diet specifically for endo sufferers. Does anyone know what this diet entails & where I can find more information about it? Thank you! Xx

I downloaded Recipies and Diet Advice for Endometriosis by Carolyn Levett from amazon onto my iPad last night. It looks very interesting worth a look x

I've been following Diane Mills endo diet. She is a nutritionist specialised in endo and fertility. Have a look at her we page for general details about her diet. She has also written a book and sees patients in London. The diet is essentially gluten, wheat and diary free and with lots of fruits, vegetables, complex carbohydrates and not processed foods, as well as many supplements.

I have just come off this diet. I started putting on weight because always hungry and was still having symptoms like loads of migraines and loads of pain. Have been eating gluten now for the last 3 days and up to now it has made no difference to me what so ever. May as well live normally for at least one thing in my life as everything else is f....d up by endo. X

Hi I tried it for around 3/4 months. I did in fact have 7 weeks sort of pain free-ish at the start but that was just after an op so I am not sure what was more affective. It is my 4th day eating gluten and although I am on my period and my pain always goes when I get it I haven't had any endo pains yet. So for me I am not sure if it worked or not. I know everyone is different but it is probably the only comfort in my miserable life I have to eat food I like. I may loose weight now I am off this diet. Lol. But there is one good thing I can say about not eating gluten it stops wind. Now I seem to have a lot more wind, which for us endo ladies can be very painful indeed. X

Thanks so much for your reply. I have been wanting to do the endo diet pretty much like the one you were on, but I am a sucker for fresh bread, butter and cheese. I don't think I could do it! Good for you for giving it a try.

You don't have to stick to it religiously. The aim is to cut back on adding extra oestrogen friendly foods. There is no need to go full turkey. every little helps as they say.

If you can cut down and be mindful of what you are eating and what foods do promote oestrogen production then you are less inclined to over indulge in them than you would ordinarily have done.

There are foods and drinks i do know give me rapid increase in pain and I do avoid them. there are foods I know have a longer term effect on oestrogen levels and most of them I cut out or cut down.

I am not a martyr to it, I still like bread dunked in my soup at lunch time etc.

It doesn't hurt me within minutes or hours like somethings clearly do.

We don't need to cut out all gluten like peoplewith coealiac need to. Our bodies can still process Gluten, but keeping it to a minimum is a better idea than not bothering at all.

endo-resolved.com/diet.html lists many of the good and bad foods and drinks for endo and IBS symptoms.

but there are many blogs and websites listing recipe ideas to go with endo diet food choices. just google endo diet and work through the websites that come up.
