I am on cerazette back to back. I am due to have my a diagnostic laparoscopy within 18 weeks (but as yet no date), and I have had my pre-op. Is it better to stop now and have a few periods, if not when is best to stop taking it? Thankyou in advance lovely ladies. X

I'm on cerazette back to back too and due to have my diagnostic lap in the next few months. Do you have to be bleeding when having a lap then?

Apparently it's a good idea to be, as it helps to see any possible endo better.

Can you link it back to when you were having breaks from taking it? I had to be starting my period for when I had my Mirena fitted, so I was having it fitted on the Monday and the last pill I took was Friday morning, although I had all the symtoms of pain I didn't actually have a period but this was all coil related I think. So I would reommend from this to have 4 clear days pill free before the lap.

It's up to you - bearing in mind that periods hurt, so if you want to leave it a bit longer i suspect you can given waiting lists. you only need one recent bleed or to be on during the lap for it to be active and easier to spot. On the other hand if you can cope with a period and pain killers then might be an idea to have one (or even a 2nd one) between now and the op just to be sure it is active again and easy to spot.

Hi,

Ive just had my appointment with my consultant a few weeks ago, and he's finally agreed for me to have my lap, so like you I'm just waiting for the date.

He advised me to come off the pill (I'm on Micronor every day) as mine hasn't actually helped my periods much.

I came off the Micronor last week, and have had cramping but as of yet no period.

If your on a cancellation list then i would advise coming off it now, but making sure you have suitable painkillers for you so your aren't in too much pain.

It would definitely benefit you to have a period around the time of your Lap though because it will help them see it clearer.

Thankyou lovely ladies for replying. As of today I have stopped taking the pill. I am armed with varying kinds of pain killers. Hopefully it won't be too bad...(she says optimistically) xx
