I had the mirena put in before I was diagnosed with endo 3 years ago, I recently had my gyno try me on the pill cilest and I'm worried about all the hormones? Can they have a negative affect on you? I'm only 21 and I already get hot flushes and bleeding on the coil, will the pill help this or make it worse?

The mirena and the pill, worried about side effects?
Hi mikkieG
My opinion is you probably won't know for sure until you try it, but I must admit it's rather unusual to be given the pill when you've already had the coil fitted, has your gynecologist or G.p advised you to have the coil removed any time soon?
Many pills such as Cilest and cerzatte can play with your your hormones slightly but G.P's do usually advise to take a Lil break between packs their not usually long lived.

I asked the gyno at my appointment if I should have the coil removed and he said to keep it in and take the pill back to back, without having a week break. He told me try it for four months then have a review with him xx
If you do have endo - you have to trial and error to find the one with the fewest neg side effects for your personally to put up with. All side effects are temporary. The Mirena is the lowest of the hormone doses, and BC Pills will be stronger - but not necessarily in a bad way. It depends how your body does react to them.
You do need to have some form of menstruation management when you have endo regardless of the side effects, having endo spread is a much worse prospect.
You may not need to take the pill for too long because it my be all you need to get the mirena working full time to stop periods, but it may be that you do need for the duration of the mirena as a top up to keep the periods stopped.
Hope it is a success.
