I havent been diagnosed with endo yet, I have a lapo coming up to confirm it. Could there be a chance I havent got endo and it may be something else?. My symptoms are UTI, burning feeling, pain deep inside, painful sex.

Thank you xx

Yes you may not have endo - because there are a number of different conditions that cause sexpain deep inside, but it is a strong candidate because it is so common. over 10% of all women have endo, so it certinly needs checking out, even if that is to eliminate it.

The repeated UTIs are not related to endo directly. You may have a weakened immune system because of endo which makes the UTIs more likely to happen, but equally you could just be resistent to the antibiotics, so whtever you are given for the UTIs will kill off most of the bugs and ease your symptoms great deal, but somewhere in there a few bugs remain alive and eventually they replicate and you will begin to feel the side effects of the UTI again, thinking it was gone when infact it was never entirely gone.

UTI drug resistance is an ever growing problem in society in general.

Is a recent article on this very subject.

Sex pain could be caused by adhesions, adenomyosis, or a tilted uterus or the cervix being out of allignment or STD infections and so on.

I am sure your doc will have tested you for many of the common causes already and this is another fact finding operation to see whats going on on the outside of the cervix, vagina and uterus, to check it there are adhesions sticking these organs to anything else and freeing them up, or to see if there is endo present.

Endo inside you bleeds in the same way as your womb does each period - only there is no where for the blood to escape to. So it falls down with gravity and usually collects in the gap between the uterus and the bowel, a space called the POD (pouch of douglas). This fills up with coagulated endo blood and can dent in to the vagina or bowel causing sex pains and trouble going to the loo for a poo too. endo lesions do not show up on scans, so they need to be looked for visually with a camera. If you are on a period when you have your op so much the better as any bleeding endo spots will easily be spotted.

It is a bit more complicated than that - but in a nutshell thats the aim of the surgery.

Hi your symptoms are exactly what I suffer. I have endo on my bladder and I always feel like I have a uti. Although I am prone to them because of endo I haven't got them constantly but feel like I do., I was tested so many times before I was diagnosed as i didn't know what was wrong with me. They even sent me to the sexual health clinic twice. All came back clear. It is endo on my bladder that causes mine and your symptoms are typical if it. You may not have endo but unfortunately have symptoms of bladder endo, I am very sorry to say. X

Thank you for your reply :). Its horrible isnt it :( I constanly drink lemon tea and water to try and flush the infection away and I have even been on a number of antibotics to try and get rid of my water infection but nothing works! thats why I think it is a connection with endo :(. Go for my lapo in two weeks I will know more than I suppose x

I dont suppose you've heard of IC? Interstitial cystitis is a bladder condition that can be related to Endo, have a look on the internet, there are some websites that give lots of info on it. Ask you gynae about it and see if they could do anything for you or refer you to someone who will help.

Good luck,

Leya x

I believe sugar is bad for bladder endo, maybe cut down a lil on the sugary drinks, honestly the lifestyle you are expected to lead with this disease as the endo diet stops us from eating and drinking anything nice. Vegan diet is good for it but who wants to live like that. Endo does give off a burning sensation, it's no were near as strong as cystitis but definitely there. It's endo causing inflammation and therefore burning. I have had many many anti biotics a few years ago to try and rid these constant uti,s obviously ended to no avail. One stupid doctor even told me I was immune to a certain type of anti b because it no longer worked on my uti,s. I had endo then.. Good luck with your lap, I really hope they don't find endo and another cause for your pain xx

Hi. Yes that's what I mean I don't drink any sort of sugary drinks my diet is very controlled due to me being really weight conscious. I drink so much water green tea and boiling water with lemon so im always annoyed when I get one. I will try the endo diet though. Thank you me too :). Xxx
