Just had 3 weeks of hell...........

Well 3 weeks ago I started vomiting everyday so after a few days I made an appointment to see my gp. He prescribed me some anti sickness pills but unfortunately for me they did not work and I kept on been sick. I couldn't even keep water down and I had extreme abdo pain. So hubby made me an emergency appointment at gp on Monday 24th Feb. When I attended my appointment the doc checked me over and told me he was ringing an ambulance to take me to the surgical ward at York hospital. So I end up in hospital and the doc there tells me they are seriously worried about how ill I am. I had to have an emergency ct scan and xray. Next thing I know all these various doctors appear and tell me they want to operate asap. The op started at 01:10 on the Tuesday. Apparently I needed my appendix out and stents put into my kidneys and gynae did something also. The doc told me when he opened me up I was full of infection and inflammation and needed a lot of cleaning out. So I have 21 staples in my stomach but at least I'm still here. I was allowed home this Wednesday. I have my staples out today but still have no idea if I have endo or not. Got to go back for scans in 3 months for gynae.

I hope you ladies are as well as possible and don't have to go through that.

Hi Heidi7,

So sorry to hear you have been suffering so much. Your post has made me want to share mines as there is some slight similarities.

About 5 years ago I had two months of vomitting every day, and up to 14 times a day when on my period. I could not eat or keep down water or the anit sickness tablets either. I went from a size 12/14 to a size 8, I was constantly exhausted due to lack of food and constant sickness it was a nightmare! I had lots of tests but nothing was conclusive. I had constipation at the time as well so my bowels was the focus of my problems and was diagnosed with "idopathic constipation of the bowels for young women". When I asked what that was consultant said, your homones cause you to have constipation and sickness and all you can do is take anti sickness tablets and constipation relief. In the end I got mirena coil fitted as the period pain and sickness was too much. Was a life saver for me.

Fast forward to last year July I had extreme pain in my stomach, crying at a touch of it. I felt like I would die from the pain. Rushed to hospital and they thought I had apendicitius. Prepared me for surgery and gave me lots of antibiotics for infections in my stomach. Anyway went in to surgery (lap) 2am woke up in recovery at 5.30am and was told I need to wait for the Dr to tell me the outcome of surgery as "it was complex, but dont worry you still have your appendix". Was soooooo scared as to whether they had removed my overies/womb or what. Eventually after 30 mins which felt like a lifetime waiting to hear what the hell they did to me in surgery I was told I had a cyst removed (apparently ruptured) from my left ovary and stage 3 endometrius. After the shock I felt relieved as it explained so much of why I had struggled with periods since age 13 (now Im 29).

Today I may be sick once during period and can stuggle with pain if I havenot been able to keep the anti sickness tablet down. It is a balancing act to try and take the tablet before period starts (which sometimes starts early) as then otherwise I will be a bit sick.

Sorry for the long story but I felt the need to share. I hope your recovery goes well and get to the bottom of what has caused the problems. Sometimes mixed symptoms can cloud things. Maybe keep a journal about how you feel at different times.

All the best

xx

I to suffer before my periods. I am actually going through a lot at the moment. I'm up as it is 553 am can't sleep period is late. I've had really bad stomach pains bloating gas chest pain even swollen lymph nodes neck and shoulder pain and feel as though I'm going to vomit. This happens right before my period and it's very exhausting physically. However I've had many test ran on me ultrasounds the works I always get the same answers. I have noticed when I stay in the gym the side effects are not as severe. But latley, I have became very slack and am feeling like that is why. However there are times I'm very scared and feel like crying cause people always tell me it's just in my head and I'm glad to read that it's not my acid reflux acts crazy before my period.

Sorry youve had such a hard time, sounds awful. Ive been vomiting severely for the last two days... I think its caused by the strong painkillers Ive been prescribed but I havent take any for over 24 hours now and still feel extremely nauseous and cant keep food down. Im due a lap on 30th April, but with the sickness and horrific pain every day I'm just not coping well...any advice on what I can do to relieve the sickness? Got anti sickness tablets but they're just not working x

Thanks ladies for your replies. Regarding your sickness bomberkl the only thing I can suggest is ginger tea or apple juice or try get dr to give you a different anti sickness pill to try.

Ive noticed that if I take the anti sickness tablet with pain killers they are more likely to stay down. Maybe because the pain relief may get a chance to work briefly even if its before everything comes back up. Drs suggested taking the tablets with a sip of water, just so they can go down, rather than having lots of liquid in the stomach wich seems to aggrivate belly. They also suggested taking the anti sickness 1 week before periods, but that's easier said than done if you don't know when its gonna arrive!
