I think I might have Endo....

I first started noticing my symptoms in September a month after my 18th birthday. I used to play field hockey and that's when my hip started to hurt, it hurt to walk or run. Ever since then everytime i got my period it would get 10x worse then it was. My hip feels bruised and i can't even wear jeans without it killing my hip. And when i touch my upper leg it feels like i have an inside bruise all the way to my knee. Occasionally the sharp pain will go from my lower back all the way down to my ankle. My whole left leg feels so uncomfortable when i sit or lay down, those back it worse.

Recently I've been getting really bad sharp pain in both my left and right side in my abdomen And by left lower back. I feel like i am being stabbed. Also it feels like i have a huge spike ball in my stomach because when i breath in it feels like my stomach is squeezing against it and its stabbing me with little needles. Today is the first time I've woken up with my period, not being able to move at all with out having pains. These are my worse period cramps I've ever had, and my hip hurts so much more when i have it.

Visit your GP and get checked for an ovarian cyst. I have one and while it doesn't cause me pain down the leg it sure does pull over the outside of the right pelvic bone. If that is ruled out then your symptoms as you have written them here actually point to sciatic being the problem rather than endo.

It is possible that endo has caused the sciatic - but given that your play hockey or played hockey it is more than likely the result of a sports injury. Its very easy to cause damage to the sciatic nerve and irritate it.

WIth the bloat and swelling caused by a period it can put more pressure on the sciatic nerve than usual giving you the appearance of worsening pain at the time of a period.

It may also be endo - but that is a long way from being diagnosed yet.

Firstly you should expect a series of scans and tests to see if there is anything other than endo than can account for the pains - and to rule them out.

Next is a referal to a general gyanecologist for more of th same and eventually when most possible causes are ruled out you may be booked in for a lap operation to look inside through the belly button to see if there are any signs of endo on any of the surfaces.

Things like fibroids and cysts can show up on scans - endo lesions do not.

So if they do spot a cyst or anything else in the meantime it may also speed up having a lap if they wish to drain or remove the cyst they will use that op to check you out for endo too.

Some ladies write with absolute classic signs of endo being present, and usually after they have been suffering for a number of years and are very acutely aware of how their cycle and the cycle of pain works each month, and its pretty easy to say with some certainty that their pains are classic endo for want of a better phrase.

Because yours is such a recent and sudden change and because of the first signs being much more like sciatica I would at this point be more inclined to think that's the direction of investigation you should be aiming for as that is giving you the most pain.

It doesn't rule out having endo too, but if you look up sciatica I think you will see what I am getting at. Hopefully it is not endo causing the sciatica but something much more easily and permanenty treatable.

orthopedics.about.com/cs/ba...

webmd.boots.com/pain-manage...

are two websites which explain sciatic pretty well - but there are plenty of others.

I wouldn't wish endo on anyone - so hopefuly yours is not caused by endo but by something so much easier to resolve.
