hi i currently suffer from endo ttc have been told i got to have a hsg xray before another laproscopy im really nervous/worried as this is all new ? any advice people ? xx
got to have a hsg xray done ??: hi i... - Endometriosis UK
got to have a hsg xray done ??
Hey please don't worry about the HSG it's to check how your tubes are, it's a normal part of investigation along side the 1000 of others they do, they put dye into your uterus so they can see where the dye spreads and if your tubes are ok it will show up and if there not the dye won't move into the tubes- it hurts/uncomfortable for a little bit as it induces period pain type feeling but doesn't last long... I hope that helps a little xx I also hope it goes okay for you xxx
Hi I had it done in july, I took ibuprofen before because I was worried, it was fine just felt a bit uncomfortable. I am sure you will be fine it was really quick, good luck x
I had this done. I would recommend telling the radiographer/nurse who does it that you have endo (or suspected) and if you usually find having smear tests uncomfortable/painful as they are then aware and can be more accomodating.
My experience of the test was not nice. Firstly because I find penetration extremely painful. When the dye was injected the pain for me was excrutiating and a lot more than just "period like cramps" which they say on the info form. I then promptly was dry heaving and felt very hot. I was then in pain with horrible cramps for the rest of the day.
I am not meaning to scare you with my story, I just wanted to let you know so you have a rounded view of good and not so good experiences of the HSG. Like the radiographer/nurse said to me, everyone experiences it differently and as the other 2 have said they were ok.
I did ask the nurse straight after if she could tell me what it had shown and was surprised when she told me. However when I saw the Gyna a few months later the report said something completely different so now it is being investigated and I may have to have the test again!
I hope the HSG is fine for you and that the results are all ok. x
I also had one , I'm a big baby when it comes to blood tests or anything, I was really nervous about my hsg even cried when I was told I couldn't take anybody in room with me, I took painkillers like it said on my letter an hour before, won't lie it was uncomfortable but i had to have it to find out what was wrong so was important ,doesn't last long so just grit my teeth and then was over, so don't worry all these smears and internal ultrasounds and hsg are uncomfortable but it doesn't last long and it's over ,I'm sure labour would hurt a lot more than this test xx
thank u all pleased to hear both sides lol x
