Waiting for appointment to see a Urologist. I'm scared to have the test done.

Has anyone had burning and stabbing pains before, during and after going for a wee? My GP thinks my bladder in inflamed and has refered me to see a Urologist, I have been told they put a camera in my bladder to see what is causing the pains. Certain times of the month I'm in total agony and nothing controls the pains, I can't handle it anymore. I hate going to the oiler I feel like something is squeezing my bladder and I need to go all the time. I have had Endo for the last 4 years. I only get roughly a week out of the month where the burning and stabbing fades away but not the stomach or back pains. Has anyone seen a Urologist? Can you tell me what they do and if it's painful? Thank you

Hi Charlotte88, thank you, I'm not having an op just yet, but the thought of being awake and feeling something going inside my body and hurting me is so scary. I don't want to be in more pain than I'm in.

Having a cystoscopy doesn't hurt! I was awake for mine and it lasts about 10 mins.

Hi Amartasan, wow I'm so glad to here that it doesn't hurt. My GP said it is very painful and that got me worried.

Look it up on nhs choices. A few patients have commented on the site after getting a cystoscopey and all have positive experiences. A good nurse can get anything up dere without causing pain.

Hi Classiebird, thank you for the info I will look up the site and see what other patients have said.

I had a camera into my bladder last Xmas eve. I have definitely had worse investigations. I wouldn't say it was 100 per cent pain free but nothing compared to some of the pain endo gives me.

Hi Michelle, thank you for your reply, I have my appointment 6th Jan, I really am scared of having this test done, I wish they could put me to sleep so I wouldn't feel anything. Did you have to fast? It's says nothing in the letter about preparing for the test.

I can understand how you are feeling as i felt exactly the same. I think its the unknown that's worse bit. Ten minutes and its done. And then get to put your feet up next day. Try not to ruin your Xmas worrying. Easier said than done i know my hysterectomy s at end Jan and Im trying to just block it out but not happening. Good luck

Thank you Michelle, I'll try not to let it ruin my Xmas, I had my hysterectomy last year, I thought it would solve the Endo problem for me but no it didn't. Good luck with your operation make sure you get plenty of rest. Have a great xmas

My worry is that it won't solve my endo either. But i have adenoymosis too so it will solv that. May i ask if u kept your ovaries ? I keep changing my mind and gynea seems to as well. Currently on a course of zoladex before op

I had my camera on Xmas eve so spent all Xmas worrying about about biopsy results. Which came back clear but it was before i was diagnosed with endo so wonder if the inflamed patches were that. They were cauterised and better now

Thank you for reassuring me, I can't believe it might be Endo around my bladder. I'm so sick of it. I wonder if it can be removed by keyhole surgery? I don't have a gyno I was discharged from them last year. At the moment I'm seeing a bowels consultant, I think I may have Endo around my bowels. When my bladder inflames my bowels inflames too, I find it really hard eating any kind of solid foods even gluten free foods. I just drink lucozade and energy drinks, to get me through the day.

Hi Michelle, do you get any pains now when you urinate? I have my consultant appointment this Thursday, they will tell me if I need keyhole surgery.

Hi Michelle, yes I kept my overies, I had to due to my age, the doc said if they remove my overies now then my bones will become very weak. Zolodex didn't help me, I'm currently taking Oramorphto hel me with pains.
