I recently had my first lap and didn't get to speak with the dr after before I was sent home. On my post surgical comments all it says is 'has' what the heck does that mean? That I do have endometriosis or what? !
What does it mean: I recently had my first... - Endometriosis UK
What does it mean
Just the word "has"? I would take it that they didn't finish writing to be honest, unless its HAS and that's some kind of code for something. Your best bet is to call the clinic where you had the op and ask one of the nurses. Additionally the consultant will write to your GP with details of what they found, but that will probably be a few weeks.
When i had my lap the consultant told me what he found whilst i was in the recovery room. However, i couldn't remember his saying anything, and all i can remember is screaming at everyone and swearing. I woke up fast from the anaesthetic but it sent me loopy so he thought I knew what he was saying but i couldn't even remember seeing him!
Hope you feel better soon x
When I had my last lap done (I've had about 5 of them) my consultant spoke to me while I was still out of it so I couldn't remember anything from what he had said. My notes didn't say anything & the nurses just kept saying it was all fine, after yrs of trying to get diagnosed for endo & being told they couldn't find anything I didn't really expect that they would find anything as the surgeon didn't exactly know what he was looking for & lets face it it takes a surgeon who knows what to look for diagnose endo in most cases. However, about a month later I got called in by my G.P about a letter they received from the hospital, when I asked what is was about all the secretary said was that she couldn't tell me it all over the phone but the letter had loads of writing on it so I made an appointment. When I turned up to my appointment I was optimistic that maybe they had spotted something on the biopsies they had taken (I'd suffered with endo symptoms for about 12 yrs prior to this lap) when I sat down my G.P asked what he could do for me? My heart sank yet again (I don't have much faith in my G.P practice anymore lol) so I explained about the phone call, he looked on his computer system & found a letter that said the biopsies were clear but the letter only had 2 paragraphs on it, not exactly a long letter with loads of writing on it so thank god I had the sense to question it. He went back to the computer & found another letter that was addressed to my G.P & not me. This letter laid out exactly what they had found! This was how I found out that they had found endo in the pouch of douglas, they found damage & scaring to one of the ligaments, adhesion's abdominal wall & my bowel etc. It upset me to think this was hidden from me & if it wasn't for the secretary saying the letter had alot of writing on it then I may never of found out exactly what was wrong with me after years of severe pain & horrendous bleeding, I felt so betrayed by my consultant, I am now nearly 2 yrs down the line & am having a full hysterectomy done in about 10 days.
I would advise you to talk to your G.P as they will be sent a report of what they have found & hopefully you will get the answers you need. I hope everything goes well for you xx
