I've had numerous chocolate cysts during my 20+ years of having Endo. I still have both my ovaries.

If surgery is needed on the cysts. (my surgeon said they don't remove them if they are less then 5cm's) they are usually just drained or cut out.

I think it would really depend how big the cyst was. I've had them ranging from tiny to a massive 9cm's !

Good luck with the ICSI.

I've had one of each. One ovary deeplu entangled inside a cyst with heaps of endo - so the whole thing was whipped out and I am thrilled it has gone. Don't miss the troublesome beast one bit.

The other ovary was preserved and unentangled from its cyst and cleaned up and then put to sleep with zoladex - woke up again as soon as it could, and now has another cyst growing on it. but for some reason the cysts on that side were never anywhere near as troublesome as the ones from the removed ovary. Perhaps that had something to do with the excess of endo too, I don't know, but each side has had a cyst explode too.

I much prefer life without the angry one. The other one works perfectly well.

Hello! I had several removed before ICSI, had 5, 9 and 15cm, one had even grown back to 8cm despite me being on Prostap, they need a clear view of your ovaries during stimms phase of ICSI so like said before I imagine if they were a decent size they would want to.
