I'm on microgynon and have been for 6yrs (in between having 2 children) and now suddenly while I'm tri-cycling (recommended by my consultant) I'm bleeding whilst taking my pill.. is this okay or should I consult doctor!? I'll give it a few more days see if it carries on..

Give it some time to settle, your natural hormones are overpowering the pills hormones (this is what my gyn told me) I bled for 6 months when I had the Minera and they didn't seem too concerned they just removed it. If it carries on for more than 2 weeks, consult your GP for a review. Hope your Christmas is a pain free one x

Hi Sam,

How far into the three packs are you getting? What is happening is that your own hormones are in there but being masked a bit by the pill and sometimes they prove stronger. I would suggest you give it time. Also this is a bit crazy but when do you take your pill? I used to take mine with coffee in the morning and then I realised that the coffee was preventing it being absorbed as effectively as it can be.

Maybe if it doesn't work you could change the pill you are on, Yasmin worked for me effectively for over 2 years.

Also and talk to your dr about this but I have recently had a lot of pain during the three months with no bleed and a gynaecologist I saw said that my hormones were building up and that I should go back to every month for a while. Don't know if this is true but I suppose we should help nature a bit sometimes. I've just had my period after about an 75 day gap as we had a holiday away and because of appointments I couldn't have my period before. My period and migraine in particular have been really bad this time. But being positive for two years I could function with less pain, go running etc and get fit. Need to get back in to that.

Good luck with it. X

U have not said where u are with your pill. It is normal to have break through bleeding wen tri cycling. I can't tri cycle personally I find it makes my symptoms worse, such as bloating pain etc.

Hope dis helps
