Hi girls,
I keep reading that a wheat/gluten free diet is good for endo. Does anyone have any personal experience of this? Had a lap last Tuesday and keen to do as much as possible to keep pain away xx

I am not strictly on the endo diet religiously- but certainly do avoid certain foods that I have found to make the pains worse in me, also I avoid all alcohol and fizzy gassy drinks as that always gives me digestive pains which are intense for a while.
I do not have that much gluten- but I do get some in my diet- I can't say that it does or doesn't make it worse for me, but figuring out which foods do end to make things worse is trial and error and keeping a pain /food diary.
The endo diet is great as a starting point to give you ideas about which food types to either cut out completely, or at least avoid as much as possible.
Endo feeds off the hormone oestrogen- which is stored in tummy fat- as an extra supply, so keeping your tummy fat levels down either by weight loss or exercises (gently ones) etc is always going to benefit the battle with endo.
If you do have tummy fat in excess then you are storing up oestrogen above the basics that your body would need, and the endo just lurves excess oestrogen.
Without Doubt - diet does play a part in pain levels with endo and digestion too, so it won't hurt you to try and cut out those foods that your body doesn't cope well with, and find a few that are okay and stick with them for your staple meals. You still need to eat a healthy balanced diet with plenty of water to aid healing. I'd definitely recommend watching what you eat and figuring out what are nice and what are not nice meal options as far as pain in concerned in your own body.
Hi, I've tried and I'm convinced it helps. Endo diet is quite hard as it cuts out many things. Meat, refined sugar, dairy, gluten. Worth a go, good luck xx
Hi. I have been wheat and gluten free for a while now as I find it bloats me out and all the endo diets say to avoid it but I'm afraid it has not helped with with period pain at all. Might be different for you though. Surely worth a try.
Hi, I have been on the Endo diet for 2 months now have not noticed any change with my pains. I know what I'm doing is wrong but can't help it, I have started a liquid diet, I have noticed when I eat any solid foods my stomach bloats and hurts, when is stick to liquids I don't feel bloated at all.
I've been on the endo diet, no wheat/gluten, no dairy and no sugar for over a month and the results so far are amazing. Plus taking serrapeptase
I think I'm worried about losing weight more than anything. I've always been on the normal/underweight borderline and although I eat loads I have a very fast metabolism. I've already lost weight since the lap and I worry if I do the endo diet there may be nothing left! Does anyone ekse have this issue?
I use these book as my bible guide:
Recipes for Endometriosis Diet by Carolyn Levett
Don't worry about loosing weight as you can eat plenty of vegs, pulses, nuts, brown rise and not gluten pastas (the mayority of super have a selection)
I love brown rice, yummy !
Good Luck
Hi I had my diagnosis last month I too read that a gluten free/dairy free/caffeine free/alcohol free and red meat free helps. I have been following above since the 19th of November and have found that it definitely helps my digestion, I really suffered with horrible indigestion and bloating but have found relief. I lapsed one evening and definitely felt the worse for it. I think that there is a diet fact sheet available on this website. I have also found some excellent recipes on the web. Doves farm really useful for gluten free. Be careful substituting dairy with soya it is suggested to use almond milk, brown rice milk or goats milk instead. Good luck, Wendy
