After many years of problems (since starting periods), I was finally diagnosed with endo nearly 3 years ago. I am 41 years old and have been blessed with 2 gorgeous daughters. Zoladex implants for 9 months were a God send and so my consultant recommended a hysterectomy and oopherectomy. I have my op on the 10th December. Part of me is excited to get my life back but part of me is very apprehensive. Worried in case I'm worse, worried about scar tissue, worried about my insides feeling different. Do any of you have any advice to offer? Any tips?

Hysterectomy in just over a week. Any advice? Feeling nervous...
Hi JC001
I had my hysterectomy on 17 June this year and haven't looked back since! I was lucky to have mine done by keyhole and also had the most fantastic consultant. When he 'went in' there was more to do than he thought and I was in theatre for longer than they anticipated but, I was home in 4 days and I've not looked back since. I'm 38 years old with 2 teenage boys but I felt 68 years old and I was also on Zoladex. I have now lost weight, have a full time job and feel human again! It's so easy to say 'don't wOrry' because naturally you will. You will feel a bit rubbish for a day or two but it was the best decision I've ever made as I feel like a totally different person. Good luck with the Op and keep updating on here.

Ps: hot flushes are a shocker, my GP increased my dose to 2mg 6 weeks after my op and they are under control now with only the occasional volcano feeling :0)
Thanks for your reply HannahP. I am booked in for total hysterectomy and other organ removal on 7th January. Although I am having it via abdominal incision, I am grateful for your encouraging response as I have been toying with cancelling the operation (just because I am scared of making things worse). I am 41 with no children and it is an enormous decision to make but after 17 years of endo, cfs/me, ibs, continuous bleeding for past 3 1/2 years and no positive response to any treatment (including ablations), I feel I have no other options left. x
Thank you HannahP, I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and I'm so pleased that you're so much better now. You've made me feel more confident again! Like Fordie777 I considered cancelling last week but I feel now that I am doing the right thing.
The leading doctors do not perform surgery via a large abdominal incision, and do not remove the ovaries to treat endometriosis. You should look to be referred to a proper specialist.
