Pregnant with Endometriosis - advice please.

Hi all. I had a miscarriage in March 2012 after pain in my left ovary area. Turned out I had a cyst. Been trying to conceive since - nothing. Had a laparoscopy 9 Sept 2013. Went for results last week. Gyna told me I have endometriosis and to go back to my docs and requst I get fertility treatment asap (I'm 38). However, I have painful gums and been going to the loo lots so I did a test - it is positive. I'm worried as to how endometriosis will affect the pregnancy. Am I at a higher risk of another miscarriage? Should I be taking anything to help with the pregnancy? I can sort of feel the endo 'pulsing' in my stomach and have had this for ages now but am worried that something is wrong with my pregnancy. I know it's early as I'm only about 4 weeks but I can't help but worry. Should I feel the 'pulsing/endo' all the time I'm pregnant? or will this go away? Any help or advice would be very grateful.

Hi,

I had endo and got pregnant and it was all ok, pregnancy for some reason reduces the endo, maybe it's the hormones, my little boy is 4 now and my endo is better, I too had a miscarriage this year at 9 weeks and the hospital were adamant that the ends had nothing to do with it, hope all goes well for you,

Jo

I have had three successful pregnancies despite having severe Endo. I asked my GP to arrange regular scans to check that the babies were ok and that the pregnancy was going as planned. Because I had suffered two miscarriages, my GP referred me to an early pregnancy clinc and for regular scans.

I did have a lot of tummy cramps during early pregnancy but after the third month,I had no pain and noticed a dramatic reduction in all my Endo symptoms.

I am sending you lots of love and best wishes for your pregnancy.

Regards,

Barbara x

Go back to gp ad ask him to send you to early pregnancy unit and a scan may help put your mind at rest. My daughter is 12 weeks pregnant and has had suspected cysts before and now i have been diagnosed with endo which i believe she has to she has been told to ask them when they scan her next week to ask them to chevk her ovarys fir cysts then they can be measured and monitored. This is her third pregnancy and had no problems with her first two apart from cramping and pains so she had a scan at 6 weeks to check all was ok. Try not to worry and if your gp.supports you a scan mqy helpbput you mind at rest or when u contact midwife to book-in tell her your concerns

I too had a cyst in my left ovary and had surgery to remove the cyst. I was very lucky to get pregnant and I remember feeling quite a bit of pain in the early weeks which made me very anxious. I'd say the pain felt similar to the cyst pain. I was sent for an early scan because the GP thought it could be an ectopic pregancy, turns out they think the egg came from the left ovary and had left some small cysts behind which they said would clear and they did. The rest of the pregancy was treated like any other and I have to say I felt much better physically but mentally I didnt want to get attached as I was convinced something would go wrong.

I'm now sitting with my 4 week old baby boy in my arms. I'm sure there are plenty more stories like this but people don't always come back on the forums, I hope this gives hope to you and others.

Hi Field2

Thanks for your response. It does give me some hope although I daren't get too emotionally attached (if that is at all possible) as I'm so scared that something will happen. Been to doctors today - asked if I could be referred to an early pregnancy clinic. She referred me to the midwife but put notes on my file so the midwife can decide if I need monitoring more than usual. Will keep you informed.

Congratulations to you on your new arrival xx
