I still have regular periods but they are veryyyyy light, sometimes it don't even feel like a period, not much blood at all. But I am regular. I been having pains since June, finally I was advised to have some surgery so they could see inside and they found some endometriosis. I won't see my doctor until next Wed to get my results back but I can't stop thinking about it. Also, is a week enough time to fully recover? I had the op yesterday 25/10 and due to go back to work on 04/11?

Thanks,

Gemma

I had two weeks off after mine, but it depends on your job. To actually return to flying which is my normal job, I have been working in admin. It's taken 3 months!!! Xx

I work as a secretary in an office, so I guess I sit down most of the day so should be fine. Just wondered if that was too soon still tho? How sever was your endorm? Do you have regular periods, I'm so worried it's going to effect me having babies. I read that this is a disease that will always be there now, and will just need to keep having Laps throughout my life? xx

Stage 4 so it's very bad like you I'm worried about having kids so I decided to not get it removed! I only have one tube the other got removed as I have 15cm cyst that wrapped itself round the other one! Sitting down is painful for me I'm better standing xx

Hi Gemma can I ask if your periods became lighter, or we're they always light? Is it that the lighter periods were symptom of the endometriosis? I always thought it was heavier periods x

Hi Gemma, I'm 28 and was diagnosed with endo this year after a car crash caused an unknown cyst to rupture causing pain. I too am scared I can't have children but I have grade 4 endometriosis so the most aggressive kind, my surgeon has told me he cannot possible give me an answer but he is certain that if I required fertility treatment then I would be a priority patient, the fact of the matter is you won't know until you really try. I'm a police officer and I returned from my first op after 4 weeks x

Hi Gemma,

I had my lap last September and returned to work after a week, in admin. I was still sore, but by that point I was okay to walk about a bit and happy to get out of the house! Take your pain relief with you and explain it may impair your concentration so that they ease you back in, and avoid public transport if you can.

I'm 28 too and have suffered with my periods since puberty. They are not light, but not heavy either - it's perfectly possible to suffer with endo and not have heavy periods, because you may have patches outside of the uterus that bleed and give you pain.

I took a 7 month treatment of pro stap starting that October and finishing in May of this year. I have had some symptoms in that time, but nothing like usual and mostly an achy back. My periods didn't return and I started to feel very "PMS'y"/like the endo was coming back mid September of this year I spent a tense couple of weeks waiting for my period (and the real pain) to arrive and when it didn't, I took a pregnancy test to just to rule out the possibility. It was positive! I was in so much disbelief I took a second and got a second positive. I have now seen a doctor and had a scan who says my baby is healthy and perfectly safe.

I was told I could never have kids by more than one doc so as you can guess we are over the moon!!

There is definitely hope, so try not to worry and don't give up. Your best bet if you want to try for a baby is to go on a treatment that is right for you, to give your body a break (this is perfect time to research as you will no doubt be due to see your consultant soon to discuss the lap) and a chance to suppress the endo, then try right after you come off it. Lots of love, Rach x

Hi you have youth on your side and the opportunity to research, study and even experiment the different options for you. Your gynea may tell you endo does not effect fertlily but it can. In hindsight I would have tried for a family much earlier. I waited until I was 35 to try for a family and have run out of options as am nearly 40 and the endo is too severe for me to keep trying. Having said that everyone is so different and some with severe endo have no problem with fertility and visa versa. All I am saying is that you can't predict the future but you can regret the past. I wish you well whatever! X

Hi Gemma!

I'm 28 too and have also just had my first lap to remove Endo (5th Sept). I also got diagnosed with PCOS. I have very light periods too, but really irregular. Im so worried about having children too:( The gyne wants to put me on Clomid to help me ovulate? Im still in so much pain, it actually feels worse than before the lap:/ But I went back to work after a week and I work on my feel all day. So definitely dont go back to work too soon, get better and out of pain first!

get well soon, Katie x
