Prostap..Help please

Morning Ladies

I had my first prostap injection on the 4th October, I had my period as normal on the 15th October, have had a few hot flushes but this morning I have woken up, with a pounding headache, shaky and feeling dizzy when I bend over also extremely hot and clammy. Is this a side effect from the injection???

Sounds like what i was experiencing on zoladex...I have never said it was easy to get through this ..is is quite rightly called hell by some of us.

If you are pretty sure that you haven't contracted flu from someone then it is probably the drug. It could get a lot worse but equally it could ease off too, only to return in a few days. There's no saying how long these things last or how intense they get or how often you experience them.

I took to my bed and practically stayed there throughout my 4 months. It was a ghasty time never to be repeated.

If you are not on HRT, then it might be worth speaking to your GP in a couple of weeks time about perhaps trying that to ease some of the side effects but it doesn't erase all of them.

And remember that if you do find the side effects too unpleasant you can always stop and not have the next dose. It isn't curing you of anything, It is simply shutting down the pituitary gland in the brain which affects other parts of your body processes, but also stops the sex hormones being sent to the ovaries to trigger period bleeds. It is meant to improve your life for a while, but if the side effects are too miserable then that is no improvement, and there is no medical justification for carrying on with it.

Thank you for your quick response impatient, I only have one ovary, the other and tube was removed 31st October, it left me pain free for 2 months, I had no periods in this time. The pain returned as soon as my periods did. I am on 3 x 1 monthly injections to see if this stops the pain and then a hysterectomy if it does. I can not afford to be off work for this time, I only get SSP. I have an appointment with the nurse today, my next injection is due 1st November and if I still feel like this I won't proceed.
