I am coming up to my final injection of Prostap, of which I will have had 3 monthly injections in the aim to have reduced my recently diagnosed stage 4 endometriosis, ready for my 16th fertility treatment. This will be a fresh embryo(s) transfer from my wife.
Has anyone had success from the treatment of Prostap, did it calm your endo/ando enough? Also anyone had a scratch who has endo and had success?
I am on the wait list for surgery but been told it’s a 2 year wait and I am 39. Looking into costs of this privately but anticipate it will be costly. Again any experience/info greatly received.

Hello, I also have endo but have never been on Prostap, instead I had excision surgery to remove as much as they could before we did IVF so can’t help much with that.
I did have the scratch before my first round of IVF and our first round did work for us, whether or not it had anything to do with the scratch I’m not sure but I figured it was worth the shot as I didn’t want to regret not doing it in case it didn’t work and wonder if I had done the scratch would it have worked… if that makes sense?

My endo is stage 4 I believe, it is in my uterus, vagina and colon. Could I ask how long you waited after your excision surgery before you started your IVF cycle? Also did you have this through the NHS or privately?
It was exactly a year between the laparoscopy and when we started ivf. The laparoscopy was through the NHS but I did have about a 8 month wait, I chased the surgeon up who was doing my surgery and explained how much pain I was in and he added me to the urgent list and I was seen within a few weeks after that. I was getting desperate so did look into private but I couldn’t afford it so just had to keep waiting xx
Thank you, unfortunately my wait list is longer because of the location of endo. I was on one wait list at a local hospital which was less, however because it’s in my colon I need to go to a bigger hospital with that team too.
I am glad things worked out for you and I hope you don’t suffer anymore with endo.
hi I have endo stage 4 bowel involvement but not my ovaries, I also have adenomyosis too. I had zoladex before my first round for 6 months and second round for two months. I found it did help by shrinking the focal lesion of adeno and helped settled the endo. My first and second transfer failed but I conceived naturally after this he is now 15 months old. I have no medical evidence but feel the zoladex plus IVF cycles stims etc is what got me to that. I then went on to conceive again naturally and she is 5 weeks old. Both of mine are complete miracles and I was always told achieving a successful pregnancy would be about 1% . Was in the process of looking at surrogacy and next round was going to be freeze all. I was 36 and 37 when I had them and will be 38 next week. I really hope things work out for you.
Thank you, my IVF clinic scanned me throughout as bit of a research project to see if they could gain info as they were very shocked I had conceived at all.
So I had a withdrawal bleed from the unsuccessful transfer and then a period about 26 days later. I then must of conceived when I next ovulated as I didn’t have another period and was waiting for it to start our 3rd cycle for freeze all. I had convinced myself all the IVF stims, down regs etc had stopped my periods. I couldn’t bear to test and didn’t until I was due on again and still hadn’t come on , & the. IVF clinic wanting me to test before they would do any other investigations, so I missed a second period, before I could bear it. I have such a phobia of tests having seen so many negatives.
I did also take DHEA 75mg , ubiquiniqol 600mg and ate a lot of fish and green vegetables which i found helped with endo and adeno symptoms.
They new the growth of adeno had shrunk by ultrasound scans and my symptoms also were so much better especially the bowel side with IBS symptoms. Also basically felt like I was in the menapause so had a new set of side effects instead of the gruelling period pains all month. It did take a good month or so to get relief from the symptoms of adeno and endo.
Surgery was not a good first option for me it came with high risks of bleeding and ending up with hysterectomy, infection due to the bowel involvement and location of endo and if any of these happened,it would either make IVF impossible or delayed due to recovery due this was due to the adeno and its location and how deep it had invaded into my womb, my surgeon advised zoladex and the long protocol to try IVF before any surgery. The IVF doctors were shocked he was recommending IVF including transfer. I was lucky in that my IVF clinic although private was part of the nhs hospital were I’m seen by the endo and adeno specialist and they are all part of the gynaecology department, so he was able to communicate his advice.

I’m totally with you on the testing, that’s the part I dread the most now, the 2ww is exciting and you’ve got hope .. the test can make that all go away instantly.
It’s good to hear you fell pregnant not long after your transfers following the down reg medication, you’d like to think it helped in some way.
I too have endo in my bowel area as well, which is why the option for surgery is more involved and the wait is longer. It’s good to know a success story without having this.
I’m taking various supplements, of which I’ve researched to the nth degree, some new ones to start this week, so really hope the combination works.
Have tried CO-Q10 and DHEA on many past cycles, but now using my wife’s eggs, so less worried about my eggs but more on reducing the endo/ando ready for the embryo(s) to make home for 9 months. I took CO-Q10 for a long time and since questioned whether this had also supported the endo (as well as my eggs). Who knows..

Yes I had prostap for 3 months before my first go at IVF. It stopped my pain completely, and I was able to have egg retrieval no problem whatsoever. Unfortunately my first transfer failed, and I didn’t go back on the prostap after. When it came to my second transfer without being on prostap, I couldn’t go ahead as the pain from the estrogen tablets to help my lining was just unbearable.
After that we tried again with a ‘natural’ transfer - no hormones, just monitoring my ovulation and doing transfer after that. That worked for us (alongside acupuncture which I think was a huge help for my lining with no drugs to support it) and I’m now sat cuddling my 6 month old little boy 😊
I really don’t think I would have been able to get to or through egg retrieval without the prostap, so I’m hugely thankful for it.

Can I ask how long after finishing Prostap did you have your natural transfer?
I have recently started acupuncture with a Chinese Dr and certainly feel this will benefit me. I have had 15 embryos transferred in a mixture of fresh and frozen cycle, some medicated and some natural. Having recently been diagnosed with Endo-Ando I feel the embryos were battling with this. Really hoping the Prostap, along with the acupuncture and various new supplements makes a difference.
It was five months after coming off prostap that I had the natural transfer. Whilst my endo flares were really painful in those months, my Chinese Dr really wanted me to stop taking so many painkillers. Looking back the amount I was taking was crazy, but anything to stop the pain!
With the acupuncture and her supplements, I was able to reduce down to just paracetamol when needed. Once that was more under control was when I then focused my acupuncture to support fertility /womb lining and I went ahead with the natural transfer.
Thanks for getting back to me, it’s always good to hear positive success stories, certainly helps me keep focused. I’m hoping my Chinese Dr turns out to be just as good as yours 😊😉
