yes it is. Called the flare stage while your body is swamped with chemicals from the injection, it puts everyting in to overdrive so much that you do have a bleed and then the drug shuts down the part of your brain clled the pituitary gland that normally does several jobs.
It send signals to the ovaries to ovulate, so when switched off it won't do that.
It also controls body temperature, so when switched off it no longer does that either and you will get hot flushes and freezing chills and all manner of other side effects can result from this part of your brain being switched off.
Moods, Memory Loss, Blodd Pressure issues, Aches pains, blurred vision, hair falling out etc are all related to this flare stage and come on after the flare has died down.
Please read the patient advice leaflet as it explains what you should expect to happen and you need to know what may probably happen so you are not caught out. Also remember to let the people you live with know what they can expect from you too.
Are you on injections every three months or every month for 3 consecutive months?
There are both kinds of treatment.
Look up GNrH drugs and Lupron which is the usual name for Prostap -exactly the same drug, but it is called Prostap in the UK.
Lots of anecdotal experiences on this website

write them down or print them off and stick them up on the fridge or a wall so you and the family can refer to it when strange things start happening to you.
Best of Luck...you may need it.
It is not known for being an easy drug treatment to cope with.
Not everyone has a hellish time on it but more do than don't.
Taking HRT can lessen some of the side effects but it won't resolve all of them.
I had my first injection on the first day of my period and i haven't bled since. My gp told me that i will have no bleeding and if i do then i should go and see him.
did you have the injection within the first five days of your period? X
Thank you both, for responding. No I didn't have the injection in the first five days of my period. And I am on 1 month injections for 3 months do both these factors make a difference? My period is due around now. I have had visual disturbance, headaches, chills, aches and pains since I had my ovary removed a year ago xxx
Hi Jayneeb, the instructions that come with the prostap state that you must receive the first injection within the first five days of your period. My Consultant and GP both told me that as well. i am not sure why you do and i don't know what it means if you don't but maybe that is why you are bleeding now? X
I didn't have prostap3 on my period neither I had it on the 29th august 2019 and I've came on my period last Saturday and still bleeding today!! Its annoying tbh but my gyne said I would still get my period for this month but shouldn't get anymore after this one hmmm some reason I keep doubting it but only time will tell 🙄 let's hope it doesn't and I can enjoy some freedom from this hell I'm going through but if it doesn't then I'll be going back to my gyne or doc about it as that means the prostap is not working for me
