Hi Poppyflop

It is possible for endo to rear its head at any age, although the only way it can be definitively diagnosed is through laparoscopy. The doctor may suspect that endo is the problem and is trying the contraceptive pill to see what effect it has; that's pretty standard.

Unfortunately the only way you can find out what works for you is by trial and error, and nothing can 'cure' endo, you can only treat the symptoms, but if you're not happy go back to your doctor.

Good luck

Yes I didn't find out I had endo until I was 42. I was having really heavy periods and some pain during sex.

I had an endometrial ablation to stop my heavy periods and whilst I was under, the gynae did a laparoscopy as I had opted to be sterilised at the same time. He discovered I had a cyst on my left ovary plus lots of 'chocolate sauce' as he put it which was endometriosis. It seems you can develop it at any age.

You may need referring to a gynae if your pains continue.

Hope this helps x

I was 45 when I was diagnosed, have had my right ovary out, endo clusters removed and womb detached from bowel.
