Hi I had my first Zoladex jab last wed and am feeling very poorly. I am getting hot flushes, nausea, extreme fatigue, headaches. I am HRT . I had a lap and a laparotomy in May,
Has anyone been through this treatment and had good results? I know it's earl days but I'm finding to hard to cope with.
hundreds of us have been through GnRH drug treatments of which Zoladex is one such drug. They all have the same set of side effects. Each of us reacts to the drugs in our own way, some are exceptionally lucky but most will have a pretty grim time of coping with side effects.
pleas use the search box on this forum and type in Zoladex and GnRH as there are so many conversations about these drugs and what people go through.
Remeber though if you are unable to cope and not everyone reacts the same way, then you can call it quits after this 1st implant and let it wear off. It should remain in your system for about 4 months but the side effects begin to calm right down after a couple of weeks beyond when your next implant would have been due.
If your quality of life on Zoladex is far worse than coping with monthly period and control the pains yourself with painkillers then go back to what you know, rather than plough on feeling as lowsy as could be.
The HRT doesn't help every patient, but it might tone down some of the side effects.
It is your decision alone, not the doctors. It doesn't cure endo, all it does is pause things till you come off the drug, but the endo will become active again when you stop the drug.
Hugs to you while your feelinglike this. I managed 4 months of Hell (no other word describes it better) on zoladex. Never again as far as I'm concerned.
Like Impatient say, everyone reacts differently. I had two weeks of hell during my 3 month prostap treatment, but then had 6 relatively good months (compared to how i had been before I started the treatment).
If you are on the 3 month dose: See how you go for the next few weeks and then talk to your Doc about trying a different HRT as the symptoms you describe could be helped by hrt. If you are on the monthly type then, as impatient said, you need to think wether you are better or worse now than before.
Good luck!x
Hi cloudyrain
thanks for answering
I am on the monthly injections and am taking hrt.I woke up with a rash on my face this morning!
For some people it's actually the HRT that causes the problems! I had my 2nd Zoladex implant a week ago and I'm still yet to have any side effects (I'm not on HRT). It hasn't reduced my pain either, so for me it feels like it isn't doing anything at all
I've just had 5th zoladex and on livial. Gynae said would get worse before got better and he was right! Pain worse and continued like that for four months, just like you I was on sofa in middle of night, puppy asleep on my lap. For last 3 weeks pain and tiredness have improved greatly although if I overdo it I still get exhausted which can last for days. I'm glad I stuck with it, I suppose because he said it would get worse I was expecting it and forcing myself to think it was all working as it should and wait til I see him again which was today. Continuing for another month on zoladex then stop and see him again in November. Nervous that it will all come back again. Having said that its not a cure but I've been told maybe lap after seen him again. Tenns machine is helpful and quite comforting. As other ladies are saying we are all different. I like to give it a good try before I refuse it, suppose clutching at straws but so want to get better x
