After Surgery

On 24/02/2020, I had Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery to remove nasal polyps and clear a blockage from my sinuses. I was given paracetamol and ibuprofen to take throughout the day, plus an aqueous nasal spray, nasal drops and saline solution to clear my nose twice a day.

I've been following all of the instructions but I feel worse now than I did before surgery.

My nose is bunged up. My head is thumping. My cheek feels bruised and slightly swollen. My right eye socket hurts and my vision goes slightly blurry when the pain is very bad. Even my teeth hurt. I've no appetite as I can't taste or smell food but I'm making sure I still eat. The past 2 days I've also had sickness, diarrhea (took from surgery on Monday til Friday evening to have my first post surgery poop) and severe dizziness.

It's been 6 days since surgery and I hoped I would see some kind of improvement instead of being worse.

Would it be worth calling ENT where I had my surgery or would I have to go back to my GP first? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm struggling to sleep with the pain 😭

I would ring back to the place/ward where you had the treatment immediately or go to a walk in centre. If your near a hospital go there this sounds like you have an infection.

Hello,

Called the hospital and they made me an appointment for the next day.

Turns out they found an infection during surgery and I should have been on antibiotics from then! I'm on them now and have extra painkillers. Just means a delay in recovery time
