Allergic Rhinitis

Not sure if anyone else has had this but I was diagnosed with Allergic Rhinitis last year.

But for the last 3 years I've suffered with this intermittent head pressure and random head pains at different times of the year. My doctor never seems concerned by this & if I'm honest it went away for a months. But this last week or 2 the pains have started again. The pressure normally comes in when I go from sitting to standing.

Is this linked to the Rhinitis?

You need steam inhaling to feel better. you may want to keep a food diary and write comments with reaction. Try simple food like scrambled eggs, steamed fish and grilled chicken with cooked veg, fruits also cooked and only drinking water. Once you start to fell better you can introduce other food. give it a try.

Do you take any antihistamine?

It's funny you say that, I was being really strict with my diet as I also have PCOS & im losing weight for my wedding, and I felt the best I had in ages. The last few weeks I've slipped to bad eating habits and this has started again! Weird isn't it?

I take anti histamine when I get a bad flare up & also use a nasal spray :)

On the subject of antihistamine, you need to watch out for side effect. I used to get Zertik on NHS, as it is a brand medication it is no longer available on NHS, this is the best as I have been on this since 1980!

Some antihistamine side effect is bad as the problem we have!!

I but it on line when ever there is an offer and most of the time I can get it 1/2 the cost of small chemists.

Hello NB87, Congratulations on your wedding. Have you realised that your horses could be the cause of your allergies? The 'dander' (dry, dead flakes of old skin found in their coats) is usually the problem. You would be very exposed to this if you do the grooming. You could try an experiment by getting someone else to do this for a few days, avoiding them altogether for this time, then seeing how you are. If your allegy problems remain you will know it is not the horses, if they lessen or stop, you will know the answer, however it is not always one specific thing that causes allergic reactions.

Almost anything can cause allergies - foods, medicines, plants, fabrics, detergents etc. etc. - I could go on for ages, but start with the most obvious things and keep a diary of any reactions you get when using or eating them. I know it sounds tedious when one is busy, but it often works best - if you live in the UK it can take months for a referral to an Allegy Clinic, so I think you will feel better by taking some positive action to help yourself. Good luck - Curleytop1.

Ask your GP about avamys nasal spray as antihistamines didn't do much for my son but avamys worked so much better
