Blood test results

Hi everyone.

I've had a series of bloods taken and I'm wondering if someone could shine a light on my results and if it is appropriate to ask the gp to investigate further.

I have other things in my blood work going off but this would be a starting point for me to ask my gp, with confidence, that i need more assessment.

Tia

Hi.I am not sure what you want to ask your gp, but certainly it is never wrong to talk to your gp if you have a question. The result you posted for Creatinine and egfr really do not tell us much (Creatinine 76umol, egfr >60). Anything >60 is always called "normal". But you really need the actual egfr to see where you are at (just at 60, slightly above, way above, etc.). We would need your age and sex to calculate this for you. There are many egfr calculators on the internet. I like: kidney.org/professionals/kd...

Once there, simply scan down the page and fill in the blanks. Enter your 76 (for Serum Creatinine and be sure to click on umol).

Then fill in AGE and GENDER

Leave Assays and Surface as they are already selected.

Then click on calculate.

Then scan down the page a little and you will see your results.

The C reactive protein is very good. Means you are at very low risk of getting Cardio Vascular Heart disease.

It takes it to 78.. in the stage 2-just.

also forgot to add that I had multiple water infections last year and one this year. I had a urine dip and I had lots of protein but the doctor only looked at the blood in it and said she wasnt worried about the protein.

Is this something to think about when I see the gp?

I would not worry at all if I were you. But if you are, then of course ask our GP on some future visit. EVERYONE's kidney declines slowly as we age. You say your egfr was 78. This is MILD kidney decline. i'm guessing based upon your result of 78 and your Creatinine level you are in your 60's. The typical egfr for a female in the age group of 60's is between 60 up to 85. PLUS egfr is NOT the sole indicator of kidney disease. Neither is one egfr test. You could easily get a higher result next time, or a lower result. You seem to be doing great. Your doctor would tell you if there was a problem. A suggestion my doctors tell me is to forget the egfr "stuff" and just follow my Creatinine level. This is a simple indicator of your kidney function. Your level was 76. This is well within the normal range for your lab (55 to 100). PLUS women typically have a lower creatinine level than men (less muscle mass). All looks great for you but if you want reassurance, you are going to your gp anyway, mention it to him too.

Not what you're looking for?
