Hello vinadhun2! Has your doctor expressed any concerns, or made any suggestions to you regarding your creatinine levels? It does seem somewhat strange that all of your levels are within range except for the creatinine.
We can’t really say for certain, but we can make some suggestions. I know that excessive and strenuous exercise (like weight-lifting for instance) can raise creatinine levels as the muscles tend to release creatine into the bloodstream which then turns to creatinine. Also, consuming excessive protein (especially animal proteins, protein bars and powders, especially those that contain creatine) can cause creatinine levels to go up.
I’m not sure if you’ve been taking any new medications, either prescribed or over-the-counter, but do be cautious with these drugs (especially anti-inflammatories such as Advil, Motrin and Aleve) even with good kidney function, as they can be damaging to the kidneys. Always discuss these and new prescribed meds with your doctor.
My advice would be to consult with your PCP and express your concerns with her / him. In the meantime, if you’re still worried about this, try to limit some of the meat and fish proteins in your diet, as well as any protein powders or bars you may be consuming. Taking in too much protein isn’t a good idea even for the healthiest of people. “Everything in moderation” is key for everyone, really. Try incorporating some plant-based protein into your diet from time to time, such as nuts, seeds and legumes.
Also, if you are one who engages in strenuous exertion on a daily basis, try cutting back on that too. If these are what is creating the issue, then your creatinine should come down.
One more thing, be sure to remain properly hydrated. If you’re not sure about how much water you should be drinking in a day, ask your physician how much is the right amount for you. Flushing your system and your kidneys is very important.
I wish you all my best, dear. Do keep us posted on how you come along, and take good care of yourself! God bless. 🙏😊👍
Hi
Many thanks for your important guidance.
I have stopped strenous exercises.
I am not taking any protein supplements and I am taking only plant based diet.
Doctor is also in a fix.
Probable reason could be inadequate blood flow to kidneys
Hi again vinadhun2. Well, it sounds as though you’re doing all the right things. Is your doctor looking into what she / he believes may be causing the improper blood flow? I certainly hope so. Please do keep us posted on what you find out. I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers vinad. Take care. 🙏🙏😊👍
Hi there, Im 55 and I have a similar issue .
My latest gfr was 45 but everything else is normal. 12 months ago when I had it done it was 53 and the time before that it was 49. Doctor said "just drink plenty of water " but when I research online it seems a lot more dire ! I exercise a lot , I dont have any risk factors for kidney disease .....but I am concerned that if the gfr isn't a reliable test, ( the result seems to be affected by so many things ) then how do you really monitor your kidney function....
