Hi Im 54, I have high bun and creatinine levels. Dr sent me for a bladder and kidney ultrasound but all were normal. I recently had a uti w visible blood (looked like light period), but haven't had one in 15 years.
Im so confused! I do have high BP and high cholesterol but never had a problem before. This was my 3rd uti in a year.
Thank you!

Hello and welcome to this supportive community. It’s reassuring to hear your recent bladder & kidney ultrasound were normal.
You say that it is your 3rd UTI this year. Can you tell us what treatment you have had & did you mention the visible blood to your Doctor? Have you had your urine re- tested on completion of the antibiotic and if not it may be worth having a chat with your doctor?
Our members here will share their experience also.
My 2nd UTI showed 100,000-200,00 ml Klubesella pneumonia, took 7 days of Cipro, was clear after that. I started having ammonia smell in my urine then visible blood. This test showed 10,000 - 20,000 Klubesella pneumonia. Dr put me on a different drug sensitive for 10 days. Blood stopped a couple days later, thats why dr sent .e for ultrasounds.
Well take some solace in the fact that ultrasound, etc., show nothing terrible. And of course with medications for uti, the uti itself, the frequency, this will cause high bun and creatinine levels. But your situation, while not something one wants, is not unheard of. Many women suffer from chronic uti.. Here is an interesting link of the subject.
