I’ve searched to find out is Quorn Ok- maybe even good for CKD patients . I can’t seem to find any info on it anywhere . I have read it is good for diabetes patients - and hoping it is OK to have if you are at stage 3 CKD. I personally have eaten this years ago and found it delicious substitute to meat - in fact dare I say even better tasting! I’m now doing my very best to cut all meat and dairy products it .Anyhow if anyone can give me info on eating quorn and CKD be appreciated 👍🏻

Hi Hul,

I don't know alot about Quorn as I have never seen it in the US.

My very dear friend from the UK is also a kidney patient; she loves it! She buys Quorn bacon, etc and cooks with it same as she would meat. She proclaims that its base is in the mushroom family.

My only thought is that like any other vegetarian meat replacement, read the labels and check the sodium level.

If anyone from the UK is aware, please share!

Thanks!

B.

Thanks for your reply Bet117

Yes it is derived from a fungi-

(Mycoprotein) . As you say I will check out any other additives to the quorn product. I did enjoy quorn mince when I had that many years ago - better than beef! The other product what may be good is the food items from the Linda McCartney range. Maybe anyone on here from the Uk could advise?
