Newest Test Lab result shows increase of eGFR

Hi everyone,

I have done the lab after 3 months of first diagnosed as CKD stage 2 and just received both good news and bad news on it.

Good news: eGFR increased from 82 to 97.5 and Albuminuria is no more occurring.

Bad news: My HbA1c is 6.4%, which is showing that I am severely at the threshold between prediabete and diabetes. This is what I was not expecting. Even on the same result my Blood Glucose is 90 mg/dl.

Another added information for my CKD path. My nephrologist also found out SS-B antibody positive on that lab result. But she said it's unclear to conclude Lupus.

Therefore, now I got more plan to do to both delay my CKD and reduce my HbA1c :(

Thank everyone for reading.

Keep it up and fighting !!!

Hi. You should be pleased with your results (egfr). And you are in normal range. And no abnormal protein in urine. All good. The A1C should not be immediately alarming, but more of just a wake up call. you are only .1% above the normal range. Your diet before the test could easily have caused this. But it is a wake up call to lower your carb and sugar intake and get back into normal range. Now this does not mean an overly restrictive diet, but just more sensible. Eliminate sweets and foods high in sugar and carbs (soda, baked goods, certain foods, etc.) and watch your next test be in normal range. Also important is exercise and weight control. Again no need to go too far, but lose a little weight and each day take a 30 minute walk, minimum. Most important is to follow the advice of your doctor who knows you better than any of us.

Thank you Rick for your cheerful comments. It encourages me a lot.

You are also right about my diet before the test. I ate a lot carbohydrate at late night and stayed up so late. I am now changing lifestyle, stop having late meals, exercises more and go to bed early. I will do again the OGTT for blood glucose checking again next 2 weeks and see how it's progressing.
