Hello there, yes living with CKD is not easy. On the positive side your husband has a lot of remaining kidney function which is good news. Sadly I was diagnosed with only 17% remaining and was told I would need dialysis within 3 to 6 months. That was 4 years ago and although my kidneys have continued to decline to the point where I need to start dialysis shortly, I do believe that the actions I took in changing my lifestyle slowed down the progression. I think it is really important to research and stick to kidney friendly diets. There is not a one size fits all as everyone's condition is slightly different so you will need to find a good renal dietician to help you. You have not said what the root cause of your husbands CKD is so if that is something that can be managed or resolved then obviously work with your health team to target that. I wish you all the best.

Hello rabbit 01!

Hypertension caused CKD in my husband's case. He is on BP medications and now his hypertension is controlled..

But sometimes you feel really devastated that why Us. But I believe that God has better plan for us.

Good luck..

A gfr of 53 is better! Stick to the diet recommendations and avoid the NSAIDS, hydrate, moderate exercise, and the progression should be halted except for aging.
