I believe the trials only started a couple of years ago, and such trials take years to complete. Here’s wishing them success.

I follow that. If all goes well with the trials and they don’t run out of funding , it’s supposed to hit the market in 2020. And they are looking at it providing a GFR around 30, more than they originally thought around 15. Very exciting news. There is also research going on kidney rejuvenation. Many things in the works! With God, all things are possible😀

Yeah I am also looking forward for that to be in reality. In God's will, It would be a huge breakthrough to ESRD and CKD community and humanity also. Hoping that both wearable artificial kidney and bio-artificial kidney implants hit the market in the near future.

Pre-clinical trials on animals have been (kind of) completed. As for clinical (human) trials, at first they were saying this would start by the end of 2017. Then this changed to early 2018. Now they are saying that the date of clinical trials will be ANNOUNCED in 2019.

Nevertheless, I remain hopeful they succeed. If they do, this will be a huge thing. No more visits to dialysis clinics and, as far as I understand, with that device you can eat and drink pretty much anything you like. Other than improving quality of life, this will apparently improve health outcomes for patients. That is mainly due to the fact that the device will be working 24x7 hours a week like real kidneys do, as opposed to dialysis which is done only for 4x3 hours a week.
