Worried again
Hey Briffa please keep me posted your in my prayers ..
Hi, can you tell me what kind of scan you had? I had an ultrasound d which showed a swollen kidney, but areas were really tender when they were doing it. I was sent to urologist. It just happened in the same time frame I started feeling more pressure. CAT scan showed a stone. I was scheduled for same day surgery, but after surgery doctor said stone had passed...he said I must have high pain tolerance...it was 6 mm. My kidney where stone had been is not working correctly. The doctor inserted stint to help out that kidney. But I had a renal scan which shows pretty much everything going on. They use a dye, catheter, LASIK. We decided today to leave stint in because it doesn’t bother me and it is helping. Was just curious what you meant by scan. I have been blessed by God to have such an amazing urologist.
Hiya. It was an ultrasound scan. I don't have any tender areas and apart from my readings I feel ok. I have had high blood pressure for some time. I have made a lot of lifestyle changes. I did used to socialise a lot with work and drank wine. I have lost 2 stone. Not had a drink for over a month. Lots of eater. No extra salt. So I have really tried. I'm due to see kidney specialist on 4 Nov. Sounds like you have been through it. But thsnkfully had a lot of support and a good urologist
Greatest of luck. Ya, but am wiser. My gfr had been down for a bit, and that is why primary doctor wanted ultrasound. My urologist feels the kidney stone had been in there for awhile and causing the damage. Really hoping you get answers. I read from the kidney foundation that 38 million have kidney disease and most don’t know it. I just have to learn all I can to keep my kidneys working at their best.
It sounds like you've made some good changes to diet and lifestyle. If you haven't already, check out Danita.com for good ideas on diet and lifestyle changes. You may want to see a dietician, though they usually work with patients who have less function. Make sure to have phosphorus and potassium levels checked to make sure they are ok and that you don't need to limit them.
It's positive that you don't have blood or urine which are signs of continuing damage. Although, it's a shock I'm sure, you still have lots of function and can slow the progression down with diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.
