How much does hot weather affect your management of Diabetes? With the UK experiencing a heatwave soon, I'm keen to know how people manage with the hot weather?

I make sure I keep hydrated

I lower the dosage for insulin on hot days and drink lots of fluids so I don’t get dehydrated/low blood sugar.

I have a lot more hypos with the increased heat, so am mindful of keeping an eye on my levels much more closely, perhaps reducing some of my basal doses if needed and drinking lots of water to stop myself getting dehydrated, which causes my blood-glucose levels to go the other way and make me hyper. I always do anyway, but make extra sure I have hypo treatment with me at all times. I also keep my insulin pens in a cool bag throughout the summer months.
