Not Again (4 Days)!: DEXCOM

Wow! This is the fastest time that I’ve had to change a sensor. My last sensor was removed tonight after 4 days of use. The sensor from 4 days ago worked on and off today and kept saying Sensor Error alert.

The picture attached is how it looks before starting a new sensor.

I called the Tech. Support tonight after dinner and they will be sending me a free replacement that will be here between 3-5 days. We’ll see what happens in the next few days from now.

Watch this page for more updates. Stay safe, happy and healthy!😀👍

I think that you are a very patient lady Leah. I was considering one of those systems rather than continuously stabbing my finger tips but after following your experience, I think that I will stay with my current method. Praying for you Leah. 🛐✝️🙏🙌

Has your doctor suggested that you use a CGM?😀👍

No but I was thinking about mentioning it to my diabetes nurse. Do you still have to finger prick with that in your arm?

I do testing once or twice a day by finger if I feel the numbers aren't correct with the receiver. If they are correct for most of the time, I just test once a day before going to sleep each night.

I don't use the sensor in my arm. It is inserted under the skin, but in a different area. There are different types of CGMs and each one can be used on different areas, so you can ask your doctor if that one you want is correct for you personally.

I've had the dexcom g6 since January...at first I had a few issues especially with a allergic reaction (itchy/red) to the adhesive and at the beginning had probably close to 10 sensors not lasting longer than 7 days some even 3 or 4 days. Dexcom is awesome, they will replace a sensor even if I have bumped it on something and it's come off, yes it hurts!

But now 8 months later I'm so glad I stuck to it and I rarely have a problem now. Sure the adhesive has gotten used to me (or I've gotten used to it!) I only check my blood 1x a week now because it's so accurate (unless I'm feeling hypo I will check).

I wear mine on the back of my arm and if it's too close near the top of the armpit because of movement it won't last as long.

I'm just saying all this because with a bit of perseverance it was the best thing that has happened to me having diabetes in the last 25 years! All the best

Thank you for letting us know that about the adhesive. I’ve heard some other people having issues with it. They used the over patches, but I don’t know what they do about the side that is up against the area that they stick it on for the 10 days.

For me, I do get some interesting issues with the system, but I do call if it’s necessary to get the Tech. Support to get involved.

I also use Blucon CGM with Freestyle libre sensor..I compared between dexcom and blucon..latter had all features available as of dexcom and at 1/3rd price and its customer service is easily accessible..very easy to set up on your own and pocket friendly.
